Vibes request, please
My husband is having a wedge resection this morning to remove a spot in his lung that the doctor thinks is "85%" cancer. However, the doctor thinks this process could be curative and there's an excellent chance there will not be additional procedures required. In fact, the doctor said he thinks John could be back on his bicycle in about 2 weeks! Any vibes for his medical team, a good prognosis and his recovery are greatly appreciated. He didn't have any symptoms - a screening scan found it early. Let's hear it for screening scans!

Thanks, all. Everyone did fine. It was an adenocarcinoma but the doctor says he got it all with a clear margin and all the lymph nodes tested were clear. There will need to be follow up every 6 months for a few years, but the doctor does think this was curative. Phew!! I've now had my post-good-news meltdown and it's all just healing and moving on now.
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart! CTN vibes are the best! (and everyone pay attention to screening things when you're supposed to!)

Y'all are the best! John kicked me out of his room this evening and ordered me to go drink an adult beverage. Who am I to refuse?

Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong: it is character.

Quick update for those still following Rah's situation.
She's finally home after a month in the hospital fighting four gram negative infections. They had put her on a central line with buckets of antibiotics. It's going to take some time to recover from "the cure" as it leaves the patient with other problems. But it appears she's making progress. Eight years of this and surgeries numbering in the teens have left her in a debilitated state, but she's still in there pitching.
We've relied on the Devils in past years for inspiration to persevere. We've always gained energy from watching their heroics and splendid performances and examples they set for never quitting. Wish there were some way we could reciprocate since they could use some inspiration of their own this year.
Past teams will never know the dark times they've helped us get through just by being the kind of guys they are. Hitch up yer britches, guys. You can do this!
