Re: 2017 Recruiting
Obviously, QB Jack Sears is the #1 guy we need to add to the 2017 class but close behind him is WR Noah Igbinoghene who just cut his list to five schools: Duke, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Maryland and Missouri. He stated on Twitter Duke and Notre Dame are co-leaders.

Re: 2017 Recruiting
I could not have asked for a better way to start off fall practice!
Jack Sears is the most important Duke football recruit of all time, in my opinion. He is a pro-style QB that will have the opportunity to start next year as a true freshman. The fact that we stole a kid from LA that could have gone to UCLA or USC is shocking. DUKEGANG!

Re: 2017 Recruiting
Jack Sears expects to compete to start as a True Freshman at Duke, which was a significant contributing factor in his choice of Duke over USC/UCLA. This is truly exciting news. I am elated.

Re: 2017 Recruiting
Someone posted OY that his plans are to enroll early and compete in spring practice. Another very good sign.Bob Green wrote:Jack Sears expects to compete to start as a True Freshman at Duke, which was a significant contributing factor in his choice of Duke over USC/UCLA. Deon Jackson, #4 in white jerseys, highlights from last Friday night:

It appears he has a lot of the same skill sets as Shaun Wilson.

Can I assume he doesn't think he can outplay a former walkon?

I'm assuming so. Still, if anything is a given in football, it's that pre-season and in season injuries happen.lawgrad91 wrote:Bob Green wrote:Jack Sears has decommitted and will attend Southern California. This sucks!![]()

Re: 2017 Recruiting
I don't know USC-CA that well but apparently their starting QB now is a RS-Fr walk-on but I'm ready for Bob to correct me on this one.lawgrad91 wrote:Bob Green wrote:Jack Sears has decommitted and will attend Southern California. This sucks!![]()

USC's current starting QB is 4* Sam Darnold out of San Clemente High School class of 2015. Sears is San Clemente High School class of 2017.

Re: 2017 Recruiting
QB Chris Katrenick has flipped from Bowling Green to Duke:
Katrenick is listed as a Pocket Passer not a Dual Threat quarterback, which is interesting. It seems Coach Cutcliffe was interested in dual threat guys the past couple years, but I'm guessing losing Sears this late in the game made the staff open to any quality quarterback prospect.

Re: 2017 Recruiting
Any place kicking prospects in the pipeline? Like, say, someone with a dependable leg from over 30 yards?

Re: 2017 Recruiting
RB Deon Jackson has picked up a scholarship offer from Notre Dame. I believe he is solid to Duke but I will be very happy when National Signing Day (February 1) is in the rear view mirror.
