Do NOT Read This if You are Voting for Trump

Post by Bostondevil » November 5th, 2016, 3:32 pm

I can't anymore. I should get off Facebook. I should stay away from all screen, message boards, TV news, everything. But I can't. The only way to describe how I'm feeling is petrified. Petrified! It's different from hoping Obama would beat McCain or Romney. I didn't actually believe the ship of state would be altered forever. This time I do. Godwin's Law, I'm invoking it. I keep wondering if the next generation will discuss with each other - "If you had the opportunity to go back in time and take Trump out before it was too late, would you?" And apologies to all you lovely people around here - I've been hanging out at the DBR way too much.

A friend of mine posted a relatively innocuous Hillary support message today and a male friend of hers posted a nasty comment about Hillary in response.

I wrote this, then deleted it, but my frustrations have to go somewhere public. If you're voting for Trump, don't read it. If you ignore my advice - do not respond. I don't give a fuck about your personal ethics and whatever problems you have with Hillary. Start your own damn thread. And go fuck yourself. It's not about corruption or ethics, it's about saving the country we know and love.

OK - this is the post I didn't make on Facebook.

Shut up. Shut the fuck up. SHUT THE FUCK UP! I've had it. I've had it with every man who brings this shit up every damn time. No man, and I mean no penis waving Y chromosome human on the planet could take the beating HRC has taken and still be standing. Not a damn one. Am I voting with my vagina? Hell yes, I'm voting with my vagina. Corruption? 25 years powerful men have been going after this woman - a woman who spent her time as First Lady trying to get healthcare for children. 25 years of attacks. 25 years of investigations. 25 GD years and all you got is that she deleted some emails? Is the woman secretive and defensive? Hell yes. And good for her. Oh, she maybe had meetings with people who donated to her foundation that spends vast sums of money trying to help people? So Fucking What? Rose-colored glasses? Oh hell, no, they are shit-brown colored from looking through the mess created by all those men around her who cannot stand that she beats them at their own game. And she can still carry off a white pantsuit. I'm wearing white to the voting booth on Tuesday. And if you're voting for Trump because of some kind of I don't know what - then Fuck You. Donald Trump will be an everlasting stain on this grand republic of ours and if you can't see that then Fuck YOU! Also - you're an idiot.

Again - not interested in your response unless you agree with me. Start your own thread.

To all the men in my life, and there are many that I both love and respect - I'll be better on Wednesday, I hope. Right now, I kinda can't stand any of you. Even if you're doing the right thing and voting for Hillary.

This WAS the last place left where we could avoid all this. Please, folks. Keep it that way. I didn't read it, not because I'm voting one way or the other, but, because this is not the place for a political rant of ANY kind.
Love you all,

I have no safe places. My mental health demanded that I find somewhere to let loose. I thought people around here would be understanding of my need to blow a gasket. I guess I was wrong. But, point taken, I don't need to do it again.

BD -

No worries; we're cool and I understand your frustration. Mrs. Turk is in pretty much a similar place. Pennsylvania has been a fun place to be; the Philly burbs are still solid purple, despite the Jackson Pollock gerrymandering artistry of the past few years, so there have been some opportunities for dialog. Politico even ran a piece on a nearby Chester County neighborhood; I know one or two people who got quoted.

However, I have absolutely zero interest in reading that election thread OY, even if I take it as a given that the level of discourse should be higher since we have a shared connection to Duke. I would hate to dip my toe in and be disappointed.

I generally don't do politics on FB, but I took a shot yesterday at expressing my point of view while still trying to be a good neighbor, in a very poor Mr. Rogers impersonation:
Our long national nightmare is almost over - tomorrow is Election Day. It is taken for granted that both candidates for President are flawed, but I beg to differ. One candidate is flawed; the other is unqualified. Mr. Trump's words, actions, career, and proposals clearly demonstrate he is unfit for elected office. We won't rehash his many personal and temperamental flaws here. Just as importantly, his "platform" consists of ignoring laws and contracts, weaseling on financial obligations, and bringing legal action against anyone who does business with him. While these are profitable tactics against the people who paint his casinos and put roofs on his buildings, it's no way to run a country built on higher ideals. He has no idea how to create jobs, either; the man went bankrupt running a casino! (How is that even possible?!?)

Mrs. Clinton is superior to Mr. Trump ethically, intellectually, professionally, socially, and emotionally. Thanks to the thorough due diligence of FBI Director Comey and multiple Congressional investigations, we can now rest assured that no e-mail crime or conspiracy took place, and the sloppy IT technical procedures used at the State Department will not be possible in the Oval Office. While I don't agree with all of Mrs. Clinton's past decisions or actions, her experience puts her in better position to lead the country than Mr. Trump and I for one am willing to give her that chance.

For my Republican neighbors whose conscience is giving you heartburn about Mr. Trump - guess what, your conscience is right - listen to it and act on it! To my Republican loyalists who will always vote a straight ticket, you need to make some changes in the nomination process to prevent another Presidential disaster like this one and get people like me who have voted for Republicans in the past to consider doing so again. Please. Thank you.

I don't like Hillary. She has issues. Donald has worse issues and scares the crap out of me. I held my nose and voted for Hillary. :9f:

Tomorrow I will probably delete this thread. But not until tomorrow. :9f: :9f:

Eh. Probably not.

I'm hoping that now that he isn't campaigning, he'll govern more to the center than the far right. Just as I had hoped Hillary would move to the center and away from the far left.
