It's looking more and more bleak. The OP and I are in stand-by mode. Probably won't decide until the very last minute. So don't plan on us. If we do drive over, we'll probably take the Iron Dukes' up on their invitation to tour the new facilities indoors pre-game.

Add Mr. and Mrs. ricks68 to the list of attending with $$ and beer from Asheville. Good beer. Lots of beer.

Tent update for tomorrow...
We have repaired the big 10 x 20 tent for up top, and have spoken to Danny from our BBB/CCC neighbors and have secured the use of both of their tents. So while the game may be a bit wet, the food, the TV and all that join us will be dry.
Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. Weather may be dampened, but our spirits won't be!

This coming Saturday, the folks from West Point head south to invade Wallace Wade and, the question is: Which Duke team shows up? I know we all hope it's the team that defeated Notre Dame.
Regardless of which team shows, we should all turn-out to give the team as much support as possible and, who knows, we might even have a decent spread of food upon which to feast!
As of today (Friday) the weather looks mostly uncertain. From WRAL.comSo, let's take a look at the menu!Cloudy with bands of rain likely, especially south and east of the Triangle, as Hurricane Matthew appears at this time to remain a little southeast of the North Carolina coast. It will be breezy and mild with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. What we see here in Central North Carolina will be dictated by the storm track, which has shifted significantly to the southeast but remains subject to further changes.
TBCC- (+3)
Lunch- ABTs, Pimento-cheese w/crackers and veggies, Costcos, Ribs, Pulled-pork sandwiches;
Sides- Baked Beans, Cole Slaw;
Desserts- Chocolate-chip cookies, Brown Sugar Cookies, Reese's Peanut-Butter Cheesecake
Beverages- Iced Tea, Beers, SBMs
Bob (+3)- mad amounts of cash (unconfirmed).
CheerMom (+1)- soggy-cash and a (hopefully not) soggy salad.
BostonDevil (+1)- Two eight-balls of uncut smack (unconfirmed).
DPSLaw (+1)- an AmEx Platinum card in TBCC's name.
O+N (+11ish)- thick rollS of $20s.
AW- AW stuff.
DDeac (+3) PORN casserole and/or pudding (kinda creepy).
Total Count = 24 somewhat confirmed

If in your count of 24 you're counting my group of us 2 plus another dozen for ~14 total, then your count is accurate. If not, you're a bit short. Cinder blocks don't count!beaubo wrote:TNTDevil wrote:Alrighty then... beaubo with 2

Green Family is cancelling today. I can't justify a 3+ hour drive to Durham and back home as the weather is going to continue to deteriorate as the day progresses. It pains me to make this decision.

Re: Army @ Duke. 3:30 KO. Menu & Attendance thread.
We think it's wise to stay home today. It's not the weather in Durham that concerns us. It's the weather forecast here in Greenville that gives us pause. They are forecasting flooding around here in proportions that this area hasn't experienced since Hurricane Floyd. I've been out in the yard this morning making sure that my French drains are clear and ready to handle the deluge that threatens to flood our lot.
I'm also not very thrilled about the prospect of driving back to Greenville from Durham in tropical storm force winds and rain.
We'll be watching the game on our big-screen TV from the comfort of our couch. We will miss you all! Go, Blue Devils!

We are set up, but it is really nasty out here and won't get better. If you haven't left, can't blame you for enjoying your warm couch.

I think my joining you all for a game is cursed. Just talked with my dad and he doesn't feel safe getting to the stadium from where we are in southern Durham county - low lying areas that often flood between us and Wally Wade. We're out for the game. Apologies. Maybe next year?
If any of you ever come to Boston - the first round of beers is on me! (Maybe the second round too.)

BD, no apology necessary, although you did miss a great time! I was in Boston last May for a few days. Maybe next time!Bostondevil wrote:I think my joining you all for a game is cursed. A great time was had by all in attendance! Tim and Chris did an INCREDIBLE job in getting the tent set up and cooking super delicious ribs and "Cue! I appreciate BJ's and Daryl's efforts to get to the tent. Joy and David John joined us too.
My special thanks to my brothers at Phi Kappa Psi who came to the game - Wally (and Maria) Hurst, Ken (and Maureen) Miles, Floyd Rowley (all the way from Reno, NV!) and Mark Peacock. Pictures to be posted soon!
Special thanks to CathyCA who offered us her seats under cover! We sat there, as did 90% of all in attendance. Next year I'll have to get covered seats. Well worth the extra few dollars!
And a word or five about the only negative of our experience today - the Parking Nazi's. Schmucks that they are, with all of a dozen cars in the Card Gym lot, they wouldn't let those with drop off passes stay parked in the lot. They wouldn't even let Joy in to drop off without a pass. Then, when David John did get in with a pass, the asshole cop type person threatened to tow his car. I may have had a few choice words with him before he departed. I fully expected to see him roll back in in his golf cart, or more likely a paddy-wagon, to haul my wet ass of to jail. He did not come back. Guess I showed him! Ha! Not wanting to get towed either, I moved my car down to the Chem lot just before game time. Got incredibly wet walking back. And the walk after the game, well, during the 4th quarter, we finally left after 3, the wind was BRUTAL! Sitting under cover, we saw the wind and rain, but really had no idea how brutal the conditions were just being out in it, much less playing in it!
I do plan to call Kevin White on Monday and let him know the above. I will use the term "Parking Nazi's", but may leave the four letter adjectives out of my complaint. I will tell him that the absurd strictness under these adverse conditions when almost NO ONE was at the game, cost them at least one Iron Duke member and season ticket holder. They need to use common sense, not stick to the letter of the rules when conditions dictate otherwise.

David John has already spoken to a friend of his in the ID office who was disgusted with this story and told him, "He will share my experience with those who need to know."OZZIE4DUKE wrote:BD, no apology necessary, although you did miss a great time! We can't thank Chris and Tim enough for what they did for us today. Amazing job, guys. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
For those who didn't attend: Y'all made really, really good decisions. Worst conditions under which I've ever viewed a game. Chris said Ozzie, Cheermom and AW were all nuts to be there. I replied, "We're on our way. Just call us cashews."

A salute to all of you who braved the weather to tailgate and/or attend the game. The conditions looked brutal on TV; I can only imagine how much worse they were in person.

Our call about the parking incidents has been received by a secretary/receptionist in the ID office. She was appalled and has promised the complaint/treatment will not fall on deaf ears and will be passed on to higher authorities. We shall see.
