Duke vs. Wake Forest
Duke has opened as an 8.5 points favorite over Wake Forest. This will be a tougher game than NCCU but we will easily cover:
Duke 27, Wake Forest 10
Duke 27, Wake Forest 10

We've struggled mightily with WFU the last decade of so. I think it'll be a bit closer at 24-14.Bob Green wrote:Duke has opened as an 8.5 points favorite over Wake Forest. This will be a tougher game than NCCU but we will easily cover:

Re: Duke vs. Wake Forest
Wake couldn't score against Tulane, I hope they have an even harder time against our D. As long as we don't have the smorgasbord of turnovers that we coughed up against NCCU, I could see this game being won heavily in our favor. Tulane didn't score at all, so maybe Wake's D is pretty good, though, so I'll keep my total for us a bit lower.devildeac wrote:We've struggled mightily with WFU the last decade of so. Duke 17
Wake 3
Edit...so Tulane Did score..but it was useless so therefor didn't count.
Duke born, Duke bred, cooking on a grill so I'm tailgate fed.

Re: Duke vs. Wake Forest
I'm very interested to see how our offense performs against a pretty good Wake Forest defense. This is a game we definitely need to win if we plan on going to a 5th straight bowl game. I don't know how much we will learn about our defense on Saturday. Wake Forest might have the worst offense in the ACC, I would be shocked if they scored more than two touchdowns against our defense.
Joe Giles-Harris looked like a future All-ACC linebacker the other night. Although it was against a very inferior opponent, Joe is a freak athlete and moves across the field very fast. The combination of Giles-Harris and Humphries is one we should get used to seeing these next few years.

You were very much missed at Tailgate last Saturday. I really enjoy our pregame chats!wolfpackdevil wrote:I'm very interested to see how our offense performs against a pretty good Wake Forest defense.
I'm expecting a better performance from Shaun Wilson this coming week. He and Daniel Jones have to get in sync on those swing passes. Watching the game replay on ESPN3, the first one Wilson dropped looked to be on his back hip so that is partly Jones' fault. Wilson in space in a good thing and the swing pass is an effective way to attack the edge.

You are spot on re Joe Giles-Harris! Mark Newton commented to me during the game that JGH was hitting the gaps and pursuing the ball with authority. Inferior opponent or not, his instincts and skills are there so he is going to be solid even against more talented opponents.wolfpackdevil wrote:

Re: Duke vs. Wake Forest
Wake Forest Coach Dave Clawson has announced he will continue to play both John Wolford and Kendall Hinton at quarterback:
http://www.journalnow.com/sports/wfu/my ... f1e1b.html"We’re going to play both guys,'' Clawson said at today's weekly gathering to eat something good (today it was barbeque and cowboy beans) and talk football. "Obviously I’m not going to give you more details than that because we’re not going to share with Duke how we’re going to do it.
"But we went into the year with a plan and we’re going to stick with the plan, and if, at a certain point we have to re-evaluate it we will. But we’re not going to blow it up after one week.
"John will start but Kendall will play.''

The boys will be wearing White helmets, Blue jerseys, and Blue pants for the game Saturday.
The last time we wore this combination was 9/12/15 against NCCU in a 55-0 victory.
