The weekend has come and gone with no announcement. That's what I get for listening to (and spreading) rumors.

DB Leonard Johnson out of Hayden, AL is the newest Blue Devil. I can't find a lot of info on him but HUDL profile says he is 6'3" 185 with a 4.55 40 yard dash.

A post at TDD says Johnson was "impressive at camp in front of the coaches" which is why he was offered a scholarship.

Carter had a scholarship offer from Clemson. That speaks volumes on the current status of football recruiting. We beat Clemson for a recruit.

Because I never learn...the latest rumor on TDD is the big recruit is a running back Duke really likes. The announcement should happen in the next week. No leaks on the name to date.

BIG news in the Jack Sears recruitment yesterday. Adam Rowe and Tom Loy, both very respectable predictors for 247, picked Duke as the destination for Sears. Most had thought for the past few months that he was a lock to UCLA. There must have been some pretty important inside information passed along in the past week to see this change.

If we land Sears, it would be the most important football recruit in our history. Being a top-10 QB in the 2017 class, he would be our highest-ranked QB ever. With Sirk and Boehme both being seniors, I could easily see Sears stepping in and starting as a true freshman in 2017. This is the type of QB that I have been waiting for Cutcliffe to bring in ever since the departure of Sean Renfree.

One thing we gathered is the Duke Blue Devils, once thought to be more of a darkhorse candidate, is now a serious player. Sears had two very good visits to Durham and he has a strong comfort level with the coaches, players and the offense.
