Marketing campaigns that backfire!
Now, this IS safe for work:

Marketing campaigns that backfired. Including KFC running out of chicken after Oprah plugged their free give-away, McDonald's giving away MP3 players in Japan...they were loaded with trojan horse viruses, and Cartoon Network's bomb threat. There are more.

Re: Marketing campaigns that backfire!
There was an adult book store off HWY 70 near (between New Bern and Havelock) that sat off the beaten path, mostly hidden behind trees and resting in relative obscurity. That was before a local religious group decided to protest along side HWY 70. The locals news picked up the story, essentially resulting in free advertising for the store. Weeks later, business was booming. Ouch.

Is this better or worse than a car that backfires?
Re: Marketing campaigns that backfire!
Is it weird that on Hwy 70, from Garner to Durham (either directly on or within a half mile from it) there are about 7 adult stores along the way??Miles wrote:There was an adult book store off HWY 70 near (between New Bern and Havelock) that sat off the beaten path, mostly hidden behind trees and resting in relative obscurity. That's one of my favorites. Another one is that when Pepsi took it's choice of a new generation campaign to China, they translated it literally, which came out in Chinese as "resurrect your dead ancestors", which is quite a boast amongst cultures that worship them.DukieInKansas wrote:Bad marketing - Chevrolet selling the Nova in Mexico. In some African countries where illiteracy is very high, companies put the pictures of the contents on packages. Gerber baby food, in the jars with the cute pictures of the babies, didn't do very well.
