I'm still top 20ish over there and haven't posted in months. They've really damaged their own community with their heavy-handedness. But back to more pleasant things...CellR wrote:I think I was around #330 on DBR...

I just saw The Ugly Truth. Decent funny movie/slight chick flick. Kind of awkward at some points sitting beside my little sister... I feel like after seeing The Hangover, no (current - Anchorman/Zoolander still rock) comedy can compare anymore.

I still need to see 'The Hangover', and I really want to see 'Funny People'. I have seen 'Up' three times. It's my favorite film of the past decade and very possibly more.CellR wrote:I just saw The Ugly Truth. Decent funny movie/slight chick flick. My parents saw 'Funny People' and said it was pretty funny, but the language and sense of humor was extremely crude. I guess that's what you should expect from a movie about a comedian though. Hopefully I get a chance to see it in the near future.

You need to put down the computer and go see 'Up' right now. I'm completely serious. Everybody needs to see that film. Everybody.CellR wrote: My parents saw 'Funny People' and said it was pretty funny, but the language and sense of humor was extremely crude. Really? I thought it was good. I definitely enjoyed it. But I preferred Wall*E and the Incredibles, so I definitely wouldn't say it's my favorite movie of the last decade.wilson wrote:You need to put down the computer and go see 'Up' right now. You gotta remember, this is the resident "inveterate sentimentalist" (to quote myself) you're talking to. The script struck an absolutely perfect chord with me, and I thought the visuals were exquisite. I've seen it twice in 3D and once on a conventional screen, and the 3D was really a treat and an enhancement, but it lost very little in the regular format. The people at Pixar are geniuses, period.bjornolf wrote: Really? I thought it was good. I definitely enjoyed it. I need to get to bed. I feel like crap. I stayed up all night last night writing a couple chapters. Now I'm up late again. Just finished two more chapters. I'm up to page 31. I forgot how slow writing was.

Oh, and Wilson, I got my D60 today. I'm SO excited. I've been playing around with it. Are you doing anything to protect your LCD screen? I'm looking at those little polycarbonate things that clip onto it. With kids, I definitely need to protect it.

I've only used mine twice, and I don't quite have the, um, high-risk environment in my house that you do, so I haven't done anything yet.bjornolf wrote:Oh, and Wilson, I got my D60 today. My brother and uncle have had good luck with those custom stick-on film thingies for their Blackberry & iPhone, respectively, so I'm thinking there's gotta be a similar product for my camera (or a way to just make my own with some scissors).

I haven't even read that site in ages. Has it really changed all that much?

Dunno. Haven't read it much myself. I have to say, I wasn't much surprised to hear second-hand (from I don't even remember whom) around here that they're all indignant that Pat Forde thinks we're not in the conversation of the top 40(!) NCAA Division I football programs. Those guys are absolutely kidding themselves on many fronts.colchar wrote:wilson wrote:I'm still top 20ish over there and haven't posted in months. I wouldn't call them fans either.wilson wrote:It's the chick from suburban Atlanta in the pink red sox hat who doesn't know who Ted Williams or Carl Yastrzemski or even Roger Clemens is whose sox fanhood I loathe. In fact, I flatly reject the very notion of that kind of person's red sox fanhood.
But I still refuse to capitalize "red sox." ;)
*Edit: This is my Battle of Hastings post.![]()
If you ever do come to Boston, I'll show you my replica Ted Williams jersey. Yes, I have one. Not some cheap polyester replica, it's made from vintage baseball uniform material circa 1939. I kid you not. They were made of wool flannel back then. I can't imagine playing a game in August in one of those. I find it too itchy to actually wear it much so it's in great condition. I got it for my birthday about 20 years ago.
Hmmm, I don't quite get the Battle of Hastings bit unless . . .
The time is out of joint, O cursed spite!
