On Sunday, DeMarcus Nelson and Panathinaikos tried to keep their season alive in Game 3 of the finals against Olympiakos, but could not do so as they lost 93-74. DeMarcus had a quiet 6 minutes. With seasons winding down around the world, it is time to look at the overseas seasons of players who started their college careers at Duke, but finished them elsewhere. While they are not covered regularly here, this is one of several updates on their play per season.
Eric Boateng went without a team for the first part of the season, but joined Mulhouse in France's third division later in the year and stepped in to contribute immediately. Although he was not able to push his team into contention for promotion to the second division, he did end up as the league's leading rebounder and had the second highest field goal percentage. Eric will be looking to continue to push his career higher up the leagues in Europe next season.

After a chaotic season last year that saw him play in three different countries and included him being one of the last American players to exit Ukraine, Jamal Boykin found a home quickly this season. Returning to Germany, he joined newly promoted Gottingen, which confounded all expectations and steered clear of relegation and nearly made the playoffs in the top league. Jamal was a key contributor off the bench, providing a reliable and efficient offensive spark. Jamal continues to have a very solid overseas career.

A couple former members of Duke's women's team who finished their careers at other schools also had overseas seasons finish earlier in the year.
Chelsea Hopkins returned to Israel for another season, joining Bnot Herzliya again. She once again proved to be one of the top point guards in the league, setting up her teammates while also finding her own scoring touch and leading them to strong performances in both the cup and league, reaching the semifinals before having their season ended. Her work led to another WNBA training camp invite, although she failed to make a team this year as well. As she continues to reach that goal, it is clear that she has established a solid reputation in Israel that can carry her there or elsewhere in Europe as her career continues.

It was a tough end to the season for the team, which looked to repeat last year's magical run to the title. After losing a player to the WNBA and others to rival clubs in the league, the team filled in their gaps nicely, getting off to a strong start, but having difficulties in the stretch run as their lack of depth behind their four stars showed. Kathleen had another strong season, building on her all around game. In addition to being fourth in points, Kathleen was ninth in rebounds, thirteenth in assists, and the runaway league leader in blocks. Her next destination for the conventional overseas season is unknown, but she has continued to build a home for herself in Hobart.
