No it really isn't - in my universe if your company pays to send you they get the $$. If you want to keep it, you pay your own way.

Re: LTE 2.0
Yeah, that's what I figured. It covers the hotel bill for the week. Sucks, though. The talk was in addition to a research presentation, for which I was already at the conference. I did lots of other stuff related to my job as well, including talking to people to get help on various collaborators' projects. So, my institution gets the entire honorarium for a 20 min presentation, given on a trip where I conducted work-related business. The department agreed to covering my expenses for said conference, so I was going to be there anyway. It's not like I traveled to the conference, gave the talk, and partied for the week.windsor wrote:Lavabe wrote:That's not out of the ordinary.ArkieDukie wrote:Happiness is receiving an honorarium for giving a talk at a conference. Of course, I did talk to people about other jobs, so I guess it all comes out in the wash.

Update: heard back from former boss. He's going to look through everything and get back to me. He said his response time might be a bit slow because his grandkids are in town for the summer. Meanwhile, I'll keep doing my thing. And praying.Lavabe wrote:Oh yeah!!ArkieDukie wrote:Just completed, and sent, the CV requested by my former boss. Hopefully it won't require too many changes.

Good old Facebook, which told me that my friend Paula likes Sony headphones that are available from Amazon.
Um, FB, Paula is DEAF. She is the best adapted person I have ever met (reads lips, speaks perfect English, etc.) but headphones are wasted on her.

Just to play devil's advocate, my mom taught deaf kids for many years. They loved feeling the vibrations from speakers that were put down facing the floor. Danced all over the place. Maybe headphones are like that?lawgrad91 wrote:Good old Facebook, which told me that my friend Paula likes Sony headphones that are available from Amazon.

Thanks. We're hoping. With a 4 year old and a 2 1/2 month old, it won't be easy.YmoBeThere wrote:Ouch! Vibes on a quick recovery!Very Duke Blue wrote:Granddaughter Donna broke her ankle yesterday. I wish they were closer.

Re: LTE 2.0
Thanks everyone. An update of Donna. The ct scan shows the inner and outer ankle is broken. I wish I could be there to help her. We have Max's graduation Monday. Then we are going to the mountain house for a Shelton family reunion. Dana can't go. Her dog is a sweet dog from Hell. No one else can deal with him. We can't have him here because he inside about all the time and has been know to "mark". I hate it. Maybe I can figure way to go later.
