That may be more a function of gender than height as women typically outlive men.

5'4", almost 5'5". Only eleven, though. Supposed to be 6'5".

Don't necessarily believe that. When I was a kid, they took x-rays to measure my growth plates, and used that along with my measurements and told me I'd be between 6'4" and 6'6". However, I developed a nasty milk allergy and couldn't drink milk for a few years. I think that stunted me, cause I ended up 6', and ALL my height is in my torso. I have very short legs for my height. My wingspan is 6'5" however, and since your wingspan USUALLY approximately equals your height, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

So, drink your milk!

The docs always estimated I'd be 6'2" to 6'3" and they hit it spot on. Of course I also started drinking coffee at 11, which I was always told would stunt my growth, so maybe I would have ended up even taller.....

I think coffee stunting your growth is a wives tale... Only possible impact is appetite suppression, which might have an effect.

Interesting. I had heard that it was you take the average of your parents' height, and 99% of the time, you'll be within 6 inches UP from the average if you are a male and 6 inches DOWN from the average if you are female.

My parents were 5'10" and 5'2", the average being 5'6", and I was 6', so right at that 6" difference (the funny thing is, MOST of my dad's family is right around the 5'8"-5'9" height mark. All the HEIGHT is on my short mother's side. Many of her cousins are over 6', so I wonder if my height could have actually come from HER side somehow?).

My wife is EXACTLY the average of her parents. Her mom is 5' even, her dad is 6'2". She is just a tick over 5'7".

If we go by that, the average of my wife and I is 5'9.5". That means my boys would PROBABLY be between about 5'10" and 6'4". My daughter would be somewhere between 5'3" and 5'9". The doctor told us that Katie would probably be around 5'10". She said that Michael would probably be about 6'2". She never told us with Sean, but he IS 4'2" at age 6, so I'm guessing he's probably gonna be pretty taller rather than shorter. I wonder if the 6" vs. 4.75" inches rule has anything to do with how DISPARATE your parents height is (i.e. the more difference between your parents, the more likely you are to be an outlier).

2 3/4 + 2/3/4 = 1/2 inches. I think this is just a subset of your rule, which gives a broader range (with 99% confidence). So they are probably both about right
