GTHC, second edition

Post by CameronBornAndBred » March 6th, 2015, 8:14 am

I'm hoping this game is played much more like the Wake Forest contest than the heart attack causing incident we had in Cameron. Both teams are coming off of blowouts, which is nice. I hate playing anybody that is coming off a loss (even though it would mean that the cheaters just suffered another defeat. :D ) :duke:

Keys:

1. Control tempo to force Carolina to run their half court offense
2. Rebound
3. Lockdown Paige

We need a strong defensive performance.

Carolina is honoring K for his 1,000 victories before the game.

Nice gesture. I still hope we beat their cheating asses up and down Franklin Street.

Foul trouble always concerns me because we play a short rotation. I'm really worried about Okafor and Jefferson against Carolina's bigs.

A repeating meme at DBR is how awful is Joel James. Fact: In game one, James went for six points and five rebounds in 12 minutes, while Marshall Plumlee recorded zero points and two rebounds in seven minutes. James might be awful but he is better than Plumlee.

I would not be surprised to see Coach Williams sub James in early and have him go right at Okafor trying to get our POY candidate in early foul trouble. Roy likes to sub early and often so I'm not claiming any grand insight here - it is just a common sense strategy.

So is calling timeout when things are getting out of hand, but Ol Roy doesn't do that, so maybe he won't do this either. :9f:

Luckily, this is one of the least-stressful Duke/UNC games for this late in the season. We are playing our best basketball right now and have only lost once since early January. A loss tonight would suck, but it does not mean much of anything in regards to next week's ACC tournament or the NCAA tournament. I really like how our team is playing and there is no reason to read anything into tonight's game if Carolina gets hot and knocks us off.

They got hot (100% FT and 50% 3s) and we still won. Amazing.

Since most all his buds were home on Spring break we had our own personal line monitor in our living room for this one. We all threw down lucky popcorn by the bucket load and tossed back a few drinks to wash it down! It turned out to be a pretty good game plan we had.

We suspect that Laettner has been giving Winslow kickboxing lessons. =)) Good job. Gotta give the cheaters something to complain about. It's what keeps them from giving up entirely. There wouldn't be any fun in that, now would there? :ymparty:
