RIP Don Shea (NCST announcer)

Don Shea, longtime announcer for NC State and local news stations, passed away yesterday.
Prayers for his family, friends, NCST nation, and all of those that knew him from TV, Radio and personally. Very sad.

Donald Joseph Shea
CHAPEL HILL - Mr. Don Shea, age 77, died on Monday, February 2, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and will be officiated by Father Charles Miller. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham.
Don was born in San Francisco California, son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth Anne Shea. He worked seventeen years at WTVD Channel 11 News as a Sports Director and Sports Anchor. He spent twenty-five years in Wolfpack Sports Marketing in addition to hosting the NC State Coaches Shows. He served on the board of the Duke Children's Classic and Jim Valvano Kids Klassic for over forty years. He MCed the Triangle Pigskin Preview and was as a member of the NC Sports Hall of Fame.
He was predeceased by his wife Goldie Hancock, brother Patrick Michael Shea and his close friend and business partner Jim Valvano.
Survivors include two sons; Kyle and Derek Shea, brother Joseph Shea of California and his close friend David "Crockett" Long.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill located at 120 West Franklin Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jim Valvano Kids Klassic, care of Duke Children's Hospital and Health Center 710 W. Main St. Suite 200 Durham, NC 27701. www.dukechildrens.org
Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill is honored to serve the Shea family.
