VT @ Duke, 12:00PM Kick, ESPNU: Social Discussion
The turkeys are coming to town. As of now, it looks to be sunny with temps in the high 40's, definitely fall football weather. The gobblers always seem to travel well; I wonder if has changed any this season since they are scraping the bottom of the conference barrel. I can only assume Beamer Ball will be heading to retirement soon.
Duke born, Duke bred, cooking on a grill so I'm tailgate fed.
Re: VT @ Duke, 12:00PM Kick, ESPNU: Social Discussion
My guess is they won't travel nearly as well. Their fan base seems to take a cue from the Tar-cheats and disappear when they're not winning and the Hokies are in a program-wide tail spin. Nonetheless I hope folks come out and support the #DukeGang for what they're accomplishing... It's tough living in the shadow of such a dominant program as Duke basketball but they're forcing people to pay attention now and I'm guessing will be ranked in the top 20 for the first time since ?
Wow, just WOW! GO DUKE!

Do they even have a men's basketball team any more?chipslate wrote:M the Hokies are in a program-wide tail spin.

haha, Ymo, they've been the doormat for years in basketball. But I'd say the bball team is in a better position than football right now or at least the bball team is trending upward since hiring Buzz Williams who's been recruiting very well in just a few months on the job. Roanoke.com has been lit up with editorials on people calling for Beamer to go so I can only imagine what the message boards look like.
I wonder if we can deep fry a turkey both on AND off the field next Saturday?

Maybe not a whole turkey for Brunchgate but I'd like to suggest turkey bacon, turkey sausage and ground turkey burgers.

Ricks68 just joined today and he'll be bringing his lovely wife for this game, along with a growler from one of the new Asheville breweries.

Low Friday night-29
High Saturday-51
Those seated in the blue seats, or almost anywhere in WW for that matter, are gonna be very happy for the partly sunny afternoon.

I just arrived home after an all day drive from Syracuse! It was a hard fought victory yesterday and I'm looking for similar results against VT.

Good. I can post it again, not that I'd ever consider planning anything like duplicate posting .OZZIE4DUKE wrote:Wrong thread! My best friend from the third grade, Maria, is a VT graduate. She and her family will stop by our tent to say hi, but they won't be eating with us.
Maria and I went to Hillandale Elementary School in Durham from 1970-74. Many times, her dad, George Pashales, took us over to Wally Wade to watch football practice. Maria and I would watch practice with her dad, but we also wandered all over the stadium, including running through the dugout from the Card Gym entrance, and running the track around the football field. Good times! Maria and her family moved to Roanoke, Virginia about the time that my family and I moved to Wilmington. Her dad was, and still is, one of Duke Football's biggest fans.
Everyone please make them feel welcome on Saturday morning! (I don't think I've seen Maria since about the 6th grade. . .)

Please let Maria know I want to see her! I used to babysit her and her sister Sophia years ago when I lived in Giles House on East Campus. George was in my wedding. Her granddad, Mr. Jimmy, was so special!CathyCA wrote:My best friend from the third grade, Maria, is a VT graduate.
