2014 NC State Fair Comestibles
State Fair "delicacies" this year include deep-fried barbecue (not sure whether it's pulled or chopped or eastern vs western ), deep-fried Rice Krispie treats and deep-fried Bananas Foster. Lucky me, too, as my new office is probably less than a mile from the State Fairgrounds . Link to follow.

I have not been in years, and Julie has never been. Trying to set up a trip on the 26th to see the Small Treasures show at the Museum of Art and then hit the fair afterwards. Julie will probably not do the rides; we'll see about how brave she is with the deep fried options.

Ahh, but you forgot to mention the Twinx - a Twix bar stuffed in a Twinkie wrapped in bacon then deep fried...
I heard on the radio yesterday that the deep fried barbeque is pulled pork rolled in hushpuppy dough then deep fried - no mention of eastern vs western.
Sadly I won't be going to the fair this year - I have a torn tendon under the second toe on my left foot and am in a walking boot for 2-3 weeks. I don't want to lug this boot across the fairgrounds, so I'll wait for reports on the eats. Please be sure to let us all know!

Gotta be better for your health than deep-fried Twinkies or Rice Krispie treats ;) :
