Ghana 2-2 Germany: Well, technically, this meaans that the US needs to win vs. Portugal tomorrow to advance to the knockout rounds. If they don't win, then the remaining game in group stage is against a very pissed off Germany.

Meanwhile, that Messi dude won the game today against Iran; he scored a goal in stoppage time near the end of the game.

Julie's mom and brother came to eat while the US game was on. I missed the first goal (that was pitiful), but I watched us score the next two over my shoulder from the dinner table. In fact, I gave everyone a heart attack with a loud Woohooo! when we got our second one. I paused the game with 1.5 min left so I could say goodbye, then tuned in to catch the last bit and our celebration. Of course, Portugal scored with squat left on the clock. That was pitiful too. X(

EGAD!! :ymtongue:

Hoping for a 0-0 tie between Portugal and Ghana. :-s

Oh hey... Spain showed up today (too little, too late). Brazil, Mexico, Netherlands win and advance. Chile advances as well.

Today, Uruguay advanced by beating Italy 1-0, but the big story was Luis Suarez, who appeared to bite an Italian player. Suarez has served two previous bans for biting. This incident may give him a two year worldwide ban. We shall see. NOT looking like he'll be playing anytime soon at Anfield. I fully expect a worldwide ban for him.

Greece advances, by scoring a goal in stoppage time against Cote d'Ivoire.

Survive and advance, no biting necessary.

Gee... I really hope that Messi can make a career out of playing soccer. Does he get paid well? ;)

I've been a Liverpool FC fan for the last 25 years, but I am really enjoying ESPN commentary by Everton manager Roberto Martinez and former ManU player Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Will this be the year where we quite clearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory? Or victory from the jaws of defeat? Oh, we just need a draw you say? Never mind!

Sucks that the game is on at noon. Are they shown only on ESPN channels, or are there any live free streams? (Not espn3, which isn't free unless you are hooked to one of the cable companies; I have Directv)

Try Univision. I think it is Univision.com. You may have to practice your Spanish to understand the commentators.

"The one guy kicks the ball to the other guy...oooh he's running...he's gonna scare the goalie...nope, wait..he kicks to the other guy...oh the other team takes it away...and he kicks it to the other guy...he runs with it...he's getting close!!!!....he's gonna score!!!!!! oh, no, he kicked the ball two stories over the goal post...and now they run the other way..."

I saw on the Today show that you can watch the BBC or Univision Deportes feed on your handheld device if you have some app, and if you do some change to your IP address. I forget the exact details, but I think there's some discussion of it here:
