Re: LTE 2.0
I had a case once where the defense attorney had two clients with the same first and last name (different middle name) and sent a letter telling the wrong client to show up for court. When the judge asked the witnesses to stand and be sworn, the deputy grabbed my sleeve and said, "that isn't the guy I charged."

Re: LTE 2.0
This happened in Varnish Zone Circuit this morning, when the jail sent over the wrong Rodney Mullins for a bond hearing on setting his house on fire during the (unsuccessful) operation of his meth lab.CathyCA wrote:Our funny incident of the day in criminal court occurred when the judge called "Maurice Moore" to come up for his initial arraignment. This young man came up to the defense table, and when the judge asked him if he intended to proceed with or without an attorney on the charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, the guy's eyes got very wide, and he said, "Your honor, I'm not here on that charge."
The judge said, "Are you Maurice Eugene Moore?"
The young man said, "No, I'm Maurice Antwan Moore."
Suddenly, I heard this man on the front row snore, raise his head sleepily and say, "Did you say Maurice Eugene Moore?"
The judge said, "Yes."
The front row guy said, "That's me," as he stumbled to the defense table.
"Whew!" exhaled Maurice Antwan Moore as he returned to his seat back in the courtroom.
Everyone laughed. What are the odds that a courtroom would have two Maurice Moores (and that one of them would be asleep on the front row when his name was called)?

This morning in assault court, one of the "victims" was wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the following phrase on the front:
Mud Boggin'
Gun Carryin'
Camo Wearin'
Home Grown
Redneck
I left before her case got reached. I wonder how it was resolved.

She must be a refugee from the Varnish Zone. We had only boring shirts yesterday.

Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong: it is character.

I like how CC's owner is bitching that the winner wasn't in the other races so it wasn't fair. Dude, your horse came in fourth!!YmoBeThere wrote:No betting from me. I did want to see a Triple Crown winner...

Re: LTE 2.0
I think it's awesome that CC's owner can bitch away like that. He is audacious. The people out in California called him a "dumbass" for purchasing California Chrome's dam, "Love the Chase." He and his partner then decided to name their partnership "Dumb Ass Partners." They even used a donkey as their emblem.CameronBornAndBred wrote:I like how CC's owner is bitching that the winner wasn't in the other races so it wasn't fair. I predict the Dumb Ass Partners will have another horse entered in the triple crown in the years to come.
