Time for some gentle vibes for DukeRah
She just got home from taking her sweet Murphy to the vet. They agree that he probably only has another week or two before they will not be able to control his pain so it's time to schedule a date for letting him go. She's done an amazing job of handling his cancer and has gotten him nearly two years past the time they gave him. All this when she's still not been well, herself. They've been best buds through it all. This will be a heartbreaker.

Re: Time for some gentle vibes for DukeRah
It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them.
And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart.
If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog,
and I will become as generous and loving as they are.
His heart will always be with her, she has loved him long and love him well. What more can any dog ask? I know her heart will be broken (says I, who still grieve dogs I have loved and lost) but she has done right by him. Given him the best care and dignity and peace in the end. We should be so kind to people in their last days.
Hugs to DukeRah. It is always hard to say good bye to a loyal friend.

I know this time so well. Know that there are lots of cyber hug for all of you as Murphy makes this transition. It's not possible be there in person, but I am there in spirit.

Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong: it is character.

It is not a good week for dogs. My beloved Wizard, Tervuren extraordinaire is in renal failure. He is 12. His time is short. Days...weeks if I am lucky. Coming on the heels of losing Dylan in January I am crushed and my heart is shredded.
