All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost.

I suppose we can sign up to send meals to the Connette family now and not be in violation of any NCAA rules.
They are such a close family. I'm glad that Brandon is returning to California to be closer to his mom.

He graduated, so he can play right away. I would love to see him on a team that he is their one and only QB. I think he could play on Sundays, but he needs to showcase his skills more than he has been able to at Duke. Not faulting the coaches for that; he fit well into the system that we've used the last couple years and it paid off. I do want to see him as THE MAN for a season though. Best wishes to both him and his mom.

Brandon Connette's father posted this at TDD free football forum:
On behalf of Brandon and my family, I can assure you Brandon's decision did not come easy.....He is and always will be a "Blue Devil".
Brandon has called home these last two months to check on his mother more than he has called the previous 4 years at Duke. Speaking of his mom... she is holding her own and is recovering as well as can be expected considering the mountain she is up against. The tumor has had no growth 3 months post surgery as well as no growth in the effected lymph node. Your prayers have been heart felt all the way over here on the left coast. We are continuing a path of natural remedies ie: juicing, natural supplements, and alkaline water and of course our faith that Jesus Christ is with her in this.
Brandon's decision is two fold, first and fore most to be within a few hours drive of being with his mom, second Brandon, true to his competitiveness would like to have his shot at being "the guy" a starting QB.
This may just be the dad in me.... but I believe we haven't seen the ceiling for what Brandon can do as a starting full time QB.
His letter of release has been sent to 3-5 schools on the west coast and his final destination has yet to be determined.
In closing I have always enjoyed the bantering on this board.....even when "the connette package" was at the brunt of it. I like Brandon will always be a Blue Devil and Coach Cut fan and follow them as if BC were still here. My family and I were truly blessed to be part of the Duke football family and program, and yes Duke is both a "program" and "family" and I would not trade the time Brandon has had under Coach Cut for any so called football school in the country.
Go Duke

Thank you for sharing Mr. Connette's, Bob. It's a complete and thorough response to all the speculation which has bubbled up since Brandon's decision caught the attention of the media and fans. Duke was fortunate to have Brandon and Brandon has a been a fantastic contributor while at Duke.

Thanks for sharing, Bob. Reduced me to blubbering. Great young man. Great family. When his mom dies, she'll be in a better place, will leave a huge void in her family's life but they can take great comfort in her final destination. An honor to have had him in the program.

I am looking forward to following his numbers as "the man", I bet he continues to be a winner. It will be fun to see what a team does with him at the helm.

Thanks for posting the letter from Brandon's father.
Brandon Connette will always be a Duke alum and member of the Duke Football program, that brought prominence back to the University.
Thoughts and Prayers to the family.
