Don't do it Tommy!
Gosh I hope he doesn't go to dumb ol' BC. It's beneath him. Surely better things will be out there for him.

They stink now, but the program had some great NCAA tourney appearances, and is a much more competitive conference. Three of four successful years there and he is ready to take over at Duke when K retires. Harvard doesn't give him the preparation he needs to move up to Duke as the competition isn't that strong. Not a bad move at all for Tommy and one of the few he could make without disrupting his wife's career.Ima Facultiwyfe wrote:Gosh I hope he doesn't go to dumb ol' BC. It's beneath him. Re: Don't do it Tommy!
IF he goes, I am ok with it. He and K will never cross paths if he as at Harvard (except a tourney matchup), but I don't care much about facing assistants...hell, K has to do it with Brey now every year. When you have a long career such as K has had, you will meet up against the ones you once went to battle with. I think BC may be the only change that might really excite Amaker, given that his wife presumably would still keep her job at Harvard. As for Harvard fans, they hardly could feel bitter about being left in a better condition than when found.
I like the idea of Tommy at Duke one day, but I would like to see him helm a larger program again before making the move.

I also remain a fan of Tommy Amaker as Coach K's successor. His Harvard teams play very good basketball. Tommy's stock dropped a bit due to his Michigan gig, but folks overlook or disregard the fact he was dealt a bad hand in Ann Arbor. He is a quality coach and person.CameronBornAndBred wrote:I like the idea of Tommy at Duke one day, but I would like to see him helm a larger program again before making the move.

Re: Don't do it Tommy!
Good choice. He's my top choice for being at Duke AK. I am starting to change my opinion on him being at another big program. The fact is that he's already done that and has that experience. Proving you can win and recruit at a place like Harvard is much more important. So he might as well stay there the next 5 years. ;)lawgrad91 wrote:He is staying.
