Jumpin' Jehoshaphat.
Mark Buehrle, starting pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, threw a perfect game last Thursday. Tonight, he is once again perfect through 5 innings. He has retired 43 batters in a row, a Major League Baseball record.
Simply amazing.

Well, he just lost his perfect game and his no-no on consecutive batters with two outs in the 6th. But still...dayum.

Re: Jumpin' Jehoshaphat.
They said this morning that he'd retired the last batter in his last start, plus the perfect game, plus the guys in the next game, giving him 45 consecutive, a major league record by 4. I wonder if they could count the BB as 46 without a hit? I wonder if that's also a record, or not?

Nope; Johnny Vander Meer threw two no-hitters in a row in 1938.bjornolf wrote:I wonder if they could count the BB as 46 without a hit? I wonder if that's also a record, or not?

Cool, thanks. I tried to look it up, but everything on the first several pages would only talk about the most retired record.
