Probably homecoming weekend...plans still a little up in the air.devildeac wrote:Thanks, man. When you coming down to the Triangle area? I'll show you my scar. No, I won't, but I will make sure you have a nice meal at one of the Brunchgates in the fall if it coincides with a home game OR the Kansas game/housewarming party for Tilly in Sept. I would certainly offer you a fine, hand-crafted ale, too, but I know you are not much of a beer guy. DukePA makes some great mimosas and BONES makes some dee-lish 'tinis, too.YmoBeThere wrote:Hope the recovery is going more smoothly today.

DA came down for HC weekend last year and I was able to provide her with a GTHC sticker.
I think she was scared to join us for an ale...

But I was drinking ales, with my non-imaginary friends, so at least malt beverages were consumed.

We'll have our own CT tent this year, thanks to Ozzie's efforts and our $$. Card Gym lot. No excuses. ;)DevilAlumna wrote:I couldn't find you guys, I swear. :oops:devildeac wrote:Most excellent.YmoBeThere wrote: Probably homecoming weekend...plans still a little up in the air.

Eh, I feel bad about him having all these definitely UN-fun medical procedures, so I thought I'd give him a little time in front for his trouble. ;)cl15876 wrote:LOL - I think bjornolf is giving him a running start! ;) Is the key still hidden in the same spot? I'll just stop by on the way to the airport tomorrow and do a little pharmaceutical research before I head west.
You moved the key! Had to leave town without pilfering your pillbox.
Hope you're feeling better today.

Hernia pain is minor. Still other painful issues not appropriate to discuss on CT. Trust me. Thanks.Sue71 wrote:How goes the recovery today?

Again, late to the party.devildeac wrote:I had an inguinal hernia repair and the pain has been 1-2/10 today and was 3-4/10 yesterday. As I mentioned previously, the 400 mg of Motrin every 8 hours and ice packs every 1-2 hours has helped, in addition to realizing which actions hurt more than others. My surgeon said it was a bit more complicated/extensive than he thought and had to do a bit more complex/longer repair than he initially believed needed to be done. I'll find out about THAT one in my 1st post-op visit next week. I think it was more than 60 but less than 90 minutes. I have no qualms about him at all as he is a friend of the family, from our church, has been practicing for 20-25 years and the anesthesiologist also spoke VERY favorably of him when I informed him who was doing the procedure.Lavabe wrote:I hope all's well, and that our wives' get-together has run smoothly.
Sounds like you didn't have the same hernia that I had a few years ago. Mine was an umbilical one, which meant a fairly good, less than an hour in surgery kind of deal, and no scar. I didn't warn you about the pain afterwards. It was mostly bad/tolerable for 24-48 hours. After that, the worst of it was when I had to sit up... a definite no-no if you don't figure out alternate ways to do so. Do NOT go toting six packs and large package containers; let the assistant do it for you. Follow those directions about not lifting things. You'll get back to it at some point, but don't push it.
And it also hurts to laugh.
To avoid laughing hysterically, avoid all posts by mojo and ej. ;) On the other hand, I think the first mate's 13 pillow treatment is great for rehab.
On another note, now that you've completed a colonoscopy and a hernia, do you have any other exciting things planned for 2009?
Cheers,
Lavabe
I am well aware about the lifting (nothing over 20 pounds for a month, but 12 ounces curls are acceptable ) and the laughing, In fact, I thought BONES' post from yesterday or earlier this AM was hysterical and he thought the laughter may have caused my "other" problem. We exchanged a few PM's and I assured him THAT was not the cause of the other "situation." And, no, it was not busted sutures/surgical repair site   .
For other exciting things in 2009, I was considering a root canal and perhaps gluteal implants.
Listen, you f*ckers haven't needed anything out of me. You've done really well on your own!
Wild beach women, hernias....Jeezis, I've been too damn busy these last 3 days.
Whatever happened to Percodan? That was some mean shit! The only drug flashback I have ever had in my life was directly caused by that stuff.
It was fantastic!
The First Mate took off to pick up a narcotic prescription for her dad this AM, has yet to return, took her mother with her,and get this...
DID NOT MAKE UP THE BED! I ain't touchin' it.

It's not too late to begin some Colace... OTC is cheaper than prescription version and easier to get.devildeac wrote:Hernia pain is minor. Still other painful issues not appropriate to discuss on CT. Trust me. Thanks.Sue71 wrote:How goes the recovery today?
