NCAA tournament discussion
Everyone is saying we have the toughest bracket. That may be true, but I honestly like how it stacks up. This year, more than any other, has proved that no team is imperfect, so we have just a good of a chance as anyone else.
Love that unc gets Kansas. (If they actually beat Villanova, which they may not.)
Only 4 ACC teams, sigh. That is truly depressing.
I would love to see State beat Indiana.

Note to md and uva: You gotta beat someone decent/respectable in addition to Duke to make the NCAAT and not lose to powers such as Delaware and ODU, so suck on it.

Re: NCAA tournament discussion
Hang on, now. ODU has a cherished past of being a tough opponent amongst the mids during the regular season, going back a lot of years. Not that you should lose to them and expect to gain any riches.
BTW, we had a fine tag-team on that tarhole crossover last night OY.

Re: NCAA tournament discussion
I'm liking the 2 seeds: Duke, Georgetown and Miami to head to Atlanta along with 5 seed Wisconsin. I hope Gonzaga loses to the 16 seed (Southern) but realize they most likely will not so the overrated ZAGS being ousted in their second game (Pittsburgh or Wichita State) is my desire.
Carolina got screwed. Putting my Duke Blue Glasses aside, they deserved to be a 5 or 6 seed not an 8. Oh well, it sucks to be them.

Poor little sheep. They really did get hosed. Villanova won't be a cake walk, and their reward should they win that game is Kansas in Kansas City. Cognitively, I think they deserved a better fate. Re: NCAA tournament discussion
A Facebook friend provided a link to Nate Silver's predictions for the NCAA Tourney. According to him, the team with the greatest chance of winning it all is Louisville. On ESPN, Joe Lunardi's bracket is up. He has us losing to Michigan State. I'd really, really like for our guys to prove them all wrong, but I'm afraid that Ima's take on the team is spot on. For the first time in a long time, I do not have a good feeling about the tourney this year. Sure hope I'm wrong.
On the flip side, everyone seems to be forgetting that we beat Louisville earlier in the season.

Re: NCAA tournament discussion
My attitude toward this year's tourney is fairly balanced as I am neither overly optimistic nor pessimistic. If we are decent shooting the 3 ball (no 4-25 performances) and the guys all stay healthy, we are in as good as shape as any other team. Win our first two games in Philly to gain a little momentum and who knows...ArkieDukie wrote:On ESPN, Joe Lunardi's bracket is up. He has us losing to Michigan State. As for MSU, a lot will depend on how the refs call the game and more importantly how the team responds/adjust to how the refs are calling the game. Tom Izzo will have his guys playing physical trying to get away with as much bumping, clutching and pushing as possible. In 2005, when we lost to MSU in the Sweet 16, the Spartans mauled JJ the entire game.

Re: NCAA tournament discussion
I broke down and did a bracket on Yahoo Fantasy Sports.
We will beat Kansas 75-69 in the final.
I will be STUNNED if that happens, but I've been happy stunned before.

Wellll, I let my heart pick Davidson in my bracket. I wanted to see them play Butler. My bad. Go Duke. Mason says the guys are "confident". Love that guy so I am too. Go Devils.

But happily I also didn't pick UNM to go to the Final Four, which was tempting.
Congrats, Tommy!
