Duke Vs GT

Post by CameronBornAndBred » November 15th, 2012, 8:32 am

This weekend's game determines Duke's future more than any other this season. Not that it was less important than VT, FSU, or Clemson, but because it is maybe the best chance we have to win. That could have been said for the Hokies too, I suppose, and it looked like it would happen. If we start out like we did in that game, I'll feel better about our hopes for holding on. Here's a preview of the game (and a predicted outcome in Duke's favor. :happy-bouncyblue: )

Nice to see the list be down to an average size. Also nice to see it completely absent of QB's.

Score early. Score often. Get a few stops and we win 49-42.

Give up a gazillion yards on the ground and a few too many 30 yard completions, and we lose 56-35.

This is their bowl game cuz if they lose, they ain't going. The 'Dawgs will put a hurtin' on the Jackets next week.

Huge game for our guys. Huge.

Ugh, I thought with the week off we would have a better shot against the option. Next play!

Speaking of next plays, we have Miami at home next week. If we win, we'll be seven and five. If not, we'll be six and six with a reasonable chance of having 9 bowl eligible teams in the ACC. So, if that scenario plays out(lot of ifs of course), could we be bowl eligible but not go because there isn't a bowl for us to go to?

It's always possible.
As far as this game went, it's hard to win if you can't keep the other team from moving the ball. We obviously were not going to match them score for score, so that left our best bet in forcing turnovers. Unfortunately, we didn't get any today. Hats off to Tech for an excellently played game. For the most part, I liked what I saw when we had the ball, but we would have had to be perfect to win.

I was hoping for a double today, Vandy is about to end 30 years of futility at home against Tennessee. (Well, they didn't play every year there...and sometimes the game was moved/sold.)
