DukeUsul in England

Post by DukeUsul » July 14th, 2009, 7:33 pm

Hey everyone. Thought I'd drop in and say hi. It's late here so I'll be brief.

Two days in London seeing sights. Two days at the Univ. of Surrey in class. Lots of beer, bangers, mash, fish and chips, english breakfast, and shepherd's pie under the belt. Plenty of walking to work it off. Meeting some real nice people from UK, India, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, South Africa, Greece and France. Three more days of class here, a day seeing the English countryside on Saturday, the back home on Sunday.

It rains here pretty much randomly every day.

Off to bed. Check out the pics on Facebook.

We had a day with field trips to the Goodwood Estate (got to see some Aston Martin's flying around their motorsport track) and then to Nokia. How we're heading into town to have dinner and see Harry Potter (in his home county of Surrey). :-bd

I spent several months in Britain last year. Some of that time was spent in my hometown in Scotland (both at the beginning and end of my trip) but the vast majority was spent living in London. While in London I had a total of three days of rain the entire time. Unfortunately, their weather seems to be back to normal and you aren't enjoying the same weather as I did.

It hasn't been heavy at all. Just random mist and spitting drizzle randomly sprinkled throughout the day.

Out of curiosity (and if you don't mind sharing), why are you over there? From FB, it sounds vaguely like there's an educational angle to the trip?

Head to Brick Lane (Road?) for curry.

Just thought some folks might like this which I umm, "borrowed" from over yonder: "I don't know, they do some other strange things in England, like shin kicking which is actually a sport. Eating black pudding is pretty weird too."

Brick Lane. It is about three blocks from where I lived in Bethnal Green last year. But do not go there at night on a Friday or Saturday, especially around chucking out time. Trust me, just don't do it.

Dave - Love the PICs!!!!! I've been to alot of those places, solo but never up in the eye as you called it! Nice shots! I was in Huntingdon and saw my first double rainbow ever... they always wanted me back, because the weather always seemed to get better when I was there! LOL I have no problem with returning as long as they pay for it! :-D

I'm in the process of earning my MBA through NCSU and this was a joint class offered in conjunction with the University of Surrey. 12 students from NCSU, about 12 from Surrey and 8 from University of Reims in France. One weeklong intensive course on product and service innovation.

I flew back last night and boy are my arms tired! Trying to get back to real life now.

I've loved seeing your pics on Facebook.

Glad to have you back on this side of the pond.
