Besides, the fact that the high profile journal chose to feature The Minion's work on the cover makes me question their discernment.

Ooo. ooo. I voted in that election! I will totally agree that CA ballots are crazy, but somehow I didn't feel bombarded with mailers, calls, or ads. And one thing I will give CA elections credit for is that I was able to put myself on the permanent absentee ballot list. So I got a ballot for every election and I could fill it out in the quiet of my house in front of my computer. I miss that. As far as I know, not possible in TX.CathyCA wrote:
I lived in a not-swing state once. There, we were bombarded with ads about the various Propositions, and the gubernatorial recall election with fifty-eleven people running including a washed up former child actor who peddled short-term loans on television commercials, the former major league baseball commissioner, a porn star, and the eventual winner: a body builder turned actor who had married into a political dynasty, but who belonged to the other political party. Sounds like a bad dream, doesn't it? Cue "Hotel California."

WRT the California propositions, my rule of thumb was, "If you don't understand what the words mean, vote 'no.'" I voted "no" a lot.bluebutton wrote:Ooo. ooo. I voted in that election! OMG. I voted yesterday afternoon. This morning, I got an email which included the following:
But beyond that, my goodness! They're scouring the voting records overnight and tailoring their emails to whether we've voted or not.
I think they must have gotten their information from the State Board of Elections. The Secretary of State is in charge of elections in other states, but here in NC, it's the SBE."North Carolina voting records show that you've voted. Thanks so much for casting your ballot early, and helping to move our country forward by participating in this critical election!
Now that you've voted, I'm wondering if you can help make sure as many North Carolinians as possible get to the polls.
. . .
P.S. -- Based on public information from the Secretary of State, we believe you voted early in North Carolina. We apologize if you have received this email in error."

I was watching a bunch of football players dressed up as Tampa Bay Bucaneers put a beat down on the Vikings.

The wind was blowing really hard, and then it got quiet all of a sudden. That makes me nervous.
