The last time we beat them at home...I was there..as a student. That is too f-ing long! Stay in Hell Carolina stay in hell!

The Rev. Lawgrad is speaking from the Gospel of St. Mark. And the Gospel of Coach K.

Can I get a witness from the congregation? :duke:

The LTE was slipping much too far down the topic list!!

Enjoying a quiet day at work...my annoying, whining wet blanket of a co-worker is out today. We had donuts in celebration.

Doing my part to keep the LTE up the queue:

Embarrassed my paper is so late, I made and agreement with my editor that if I don't have it to her by the end of the month, I'll fly her to visit me (she's a good friend).

I really would like to see her, but I'd like to keep my money more.

My ballot was mailed in and received a week ago. FL ballot is VERY long with a metric shit ton of amendments. Since my ballot was received the phone calls and mailings have dropped off significantly! The night before we sent our ballots we got EIGHT phone calls about a candidate or ballot item.

Now if I could just get the TV ads to stop........

My ballot was clogged with judgeships. I don't feel I have any basis on which to vote for or against a person running for a judgeship.

Anyone have recommendations for this for next time?

Our judge stuff was all retention....

I figure if I have not heard the judges name, they must be doing a good job. :D

There was political ugliness w/regard to the FL judgeships so it was a different animal this year.

I voted today, too. I had to run the gauntlet of campaigners standing outside the polls. They were agressive. The Board of Elections actually had an employee standing outside to keep them from coming too close to the building.

If only my early voting would stop the mailings, telephone calls and the incessant television ads. . .

They last second gauntlet of campaigners can get pretty aggressive here too.
I have early voted or voted by mail in the last several elections. Even though I had already voted I might have engaged several of those aggressive campaigners in lengthly debates on election day...just to keep them from swaying other voters :D I am evil that way. I also once escorted scared young women through angry screaming filth spewing crowds. I am tough to intimidate.

Any recommendations on statewide judges, if any are running? I plan to vote tomorrow morning. Then I'll go up to Duke in the afternoon and pick up my bball tickets AND ring the Victory Bell!

Since we don't watch TV and aren't in a swing state, we got nada. So there's that solution--move to a not swing state.

I lived in a not-swing state once. There, we were bombarded with ads about the various Propositions, and the gubernatorial recall election with fifty-eleven people running including a washed up former child actor who peddled short-term loans on television commercials, the former major league baseball commissioner, a porn star, and the eventual winner: a body builder turned actor who had married into a political dynasty, but who belonged to the other political party. Sounds like a bad dream, doesn't it? Cue "Hotel California."

I had a fun-filled day today. Found out that, at long last, the paper with my French collaborator was accepted for publication! :happy-bouncyblue: :happy-bouncyblue: :happy-bouncyblue: I'm 2nd author, and the paper is in a good journal. Not quite as high profile as the one that made PPI and The Minion's paper their featured cover paper, but a good journal nonetheless. Besides, the fact that the high profile journal chose to feature The Minion's work on the cover makes me question their discernment. :ymdevil:

Thanks, Ozzie! Actually, I was a bit surprised that you didn't guess it based on the name. My French collaborator's name is pretty darn French. :-D
