Good morning from the StL! I'll soon be off to meet with my collaborator and hang out with my former co-workers (minus Pinhead Former Boss).
Had fun playing yesterday with my friend who is also a former co-worker. Sounds like Proteomics Barbie (NuBarbie) has a new playmate in the lab. I'll call her Proteomics Skipper. Can't wait to meet her and see if the description is apt.

Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong: it is character.

Re: The Official "Good Morning" Thread
Good morning. Ruthie has gone to preschool.
I'm waiting for the TWC service tech to show up (between 9 and 11 this morning). Starting Saturday I've had problems with the DVR, and while rebooting it solved the first two problems, 3 additional reboots have not so I scheduled a service call, which will probably result in a different DVR box. I didn't really want to watch all those episodes of Revenge, Missing and more recently, Major Crimes, that I recorded but haven't gotten to yet. What problems, you ask? Saturday the response to the remote was VERY sluggish. You know, push the button and nothing happens for several seconds so you push it again. And again. And then suddenly the DVR responds to all three pushes to do whatever. Rebooting solved that problem. Then after watching ALL of our football game on channel 518, at 2 a.m. I put it back on 1105, WRAL's HD channel, but the screen was black - no picture. I went to bed and the next morning it was the same, so I rebooted the box and WRAL was back. On Monday, WRAL was again missing, all four channels (3, 105, 106 (that's 5.2 over the air) and 1105. A reboot brought them back. Then the channels were missing again Tuesday evening, and two reboots did NOT bring it back and I called TWC. I could see 3, 5.1 and 5.2 with the direct cable input into the TV, but not through the DVR. A third reboot by them did not solve the problem, so hence the service call. This morning when I checked 1105, it was there! For a minute and then it pixilated and then it disappeared. Hope it's still gone when the service tech gets here. Will advise later... It's 9:35 now and no call from the service tech, but he's got time to be within the service window.
