Good morning.
Ruthie and crew have gone up to Duke for a scheduled Dr. appointment for her, uh, inherited plumbing problems. Her mom had this growing up and we let her grow out of it, which she eventually did. Mom doesn't want Ruthie to have to endure years' more of the problems (UTI's) and is scheduled for corrective surgery next week. Will ask for surgical vibes next week at the appropriate time. Just keep them in the bullpen for now.

I managed to spill coffee all over myself on the way to work this morning.
The Sheriff's Office IT guy is off today but is supposed to come over tomorrow and install the driver in my computer. Apparently he didn't think I needed it when he came over and installed it in the computers of the "girls" up front (his words, not mine) and also in co-worker Andrew's computer. Not sure why he thought the secretaries might need to watch interview room video but not the attorneys. He asked yesterday if tomorrow was early enough, and I told him I'd been without it this long, what was another day?
The next time I need him as a chain of custody witness, his ass is not getting released from court until the case is over. Maybe not even til the appeal is over....

Is that punishment, or time off from his "real" duties? Guess it depends how lazy his ass is... Maybe if you could find him a really uncomfortable nail-bed to sit on...

Oh, they hate it. They have to sit in a little tiny witness room, maybe 6x8. There are usually other people stuffed into that little room as well, an occasional officer but mostly unwashed types (in chain of custody cases, it's often a lowlife confidential informant who bought drugs to help themselves out of their own drug case, or for money). The only amenity is a bathroom. The phone doesn't work, the magazines are from 2007 and there's no way to get anything to eat or drink, and you can't leave until after you testify, when you get moved to a bigger room or get to go home.
I will make sure he's in with smelly people....

Good morning.
Going to Mom's today. Conference in Virginia Beach starting tomorrow. A lawyers' conference in VB is kind of like hell with tourists.
Oh, yeah, I don't live in Tidewater any more. I guess that makes me a tourist.

Way late for morning but vibes & hugs for Ruthie and the rest of the family. Am sure this is going to be harder on the adults than on Ruthie!

Good morning. The house is quiet for a couple of days, as Ruthie has gone back to Boone to visit her other grandfather while her parents take care of some business up there.

OMG--that is pure torture on so many levels. I hope you can go stick your toes in the ocean during your next break.

Happy Day to all!
