Wake Forest

Post by Ben63 » July 9th, 2009, 10:18 pm

I will be visiting a buddy of mine next weekend at Wake Forest. I'm open to any suggestions from anyone who knows anything about the area. Restaurants, places to hang out, etc.

I'd put out an APB for our newest member, La Diva, on this one as I believe she lives in W-S. You might also find her on DBR as DitBD. ;)

I spent 3 years at Wake Forest and Winston-Salem when I was in law school. I found the campus culture to be extremely conservative (kind of like going back to high school), and the town had very little going on.

Good luck finding something fun to do.

The last time I had seafood in WS was December 3, 1979. It was the night before moving from WS to Smithfield. The movers were coming the next morning to pack up our house and move our stuff. That night, we went to Libby Hill for their all you can eat flounder, which we had had before. I know, not great seafood, but pretty tasty. I woke up at 3 a.m. and started heaving at 4 a.m. I had not digested any of the fish.

Anyway, I got over it after a few years and yeah, I like seafood - lobster, crab legs, shrimp, swordfish and occasionally something else. What do you have in mind?

Just outside W-S, in Walkertown. As for the printed reviews, Allison S. wouldn't know good fish if it bit her!

Summer Flounder, the full fillet, about an inch thick, and so mild. The jumbo Shrimp, paired with this, has people driving in from great distances.

Doctors told me I should eat seafood at least twice a week...I think they were the same ones that told me I wasn't getting enough tar and nicotine... :-?

I thought we talked about this a long time ago over yonder when I lived in CA.
