Good morning! I've never been summoned for jury duty, but Julie just got a summons this week.

Went this morning and surprise, surprise, the case was a civil case, not criminal. I was one of the first 12 called to the jury box, seat #6. It was a case from the Wilmington area, a condo association in Carolina Beach suing a condo owner over the condo fees, or lack of paying thereof. Two Smithfield area law firms, the two BIG ONES, were representing both sides, and I knew the lawyer for the defense, the first named senior partner,and the firm for the association (but not the actual lawyer, one of their "underlings"). After several questions from both, the senior lawyer dismissed me for cause because of our "close personal relationship". Well, he did our wills 30 years ago, and he knows our family, and he's done work for my in-laws for years, but nothing else for us, but I'll take the out and say "Thank you!"

I would have been fair, but without knowing any facts of the case, I probably would have sided with the association and required the couple to pay their dues owed unless there were extremely unusual circumstances. Got to be fair to the other owners too - they'd be saddled with an assessment to cover the shortcoming from these folks skipping out on their obligation. Sort of like tailgating!

I went to law school with senior lawyer's son, who I suppose is now an almost-senior lawyer 25 years out of law school.

I know the lawyers in the other firm, too. The senior named partner in the association's firm is married to one of my former law partner's former wives (wife #2).

I was pretty sure you would know all the players involved - G and C, especially. I didn't know about the other. L, the politician? J is still on wife #1.

Yes. L, the politician, is married to H, who was wife #2 of my former law partner. I used to run in to her at Duke football games before she married L. I imagine that they hang out at WFU football games now.

Good morning. JPR went back to the mountains yesterday to start packing up their apartment for the big move here late next week! We/they started (ugh!) cleaning up their space here while they were here.

This morning I finally tossed out two old desktop computer boxes that go back two generations, boxes that have just been sitting around waiting to be tossed. I took out both hard drives for security purposes, and took out the modem cards and memory sticks - CB&B, you want those as spare parts for legacy systems? I also took out one 3 1/4" floppy drive, since my current desk unit top doesn't have one and I have all these old disks that I'll never need to access, but just in case I do... Wait, I didn't keep the cables needed to connect to the drive inside my computer. Drat.

Good news, bad news.

Good news is PHB is in Richmond today and tomorrow. Bad news is, when I was seeing the PA yesterday, Hilda the office manager didn't kill PHB.

Good Morning! Just got here. Had to cut the OP's hair first. He's taking me out tonight so he has to look good. We're going to the murder mystery dinner at the NCMA. Hope it's as good as VDB's chicken n' mac!

Good morning! Meeting my dad and stepmom for breakfast this morning before they head home. Yesterday they got to go see both galleries my paintings are in, which was really fun for them...I don't think they've ever seen my paintings hanging on a gallery wall.
