Re: NASCAR 2012
Sorry folks about yesterday, but my dad had a health issue yesterday, and I just didn't do much on line afterwards. I left Hamlin on the bench (and left Jeff Gordon as a starter), so I lost a substantial portion (80 pts) of my lead to this week's fantasy winner, Ymo. No major changes in the top 4. Lawgrad moved into 5th, surpassing JGo (who indeed also went with Jeff Gordon), and lg is now 87 pts behind colchar. Miles is now a mere 8 pts behind JGo, as Tilly and knights trail the pack. FWIW, one of the "Experts" got an amazingly low 130 pts for his four choices this week.
JJ won the race yesterday, playing a bit of a fuel gamble in the last portion of the race. Lots of yellows towards the end... as opposed to one of the most boring races of the year for the first 60% of the race (no cautions then). JJ's win was the 200th for Hendrick Motorsports.
Now, can Jr get his win, finally?
What did we learn this week?
1) To spare anyone from throwing darts in order to make picks, PLEASE don't do what I did this week and pick Jeff Gordon. Dude must win a race before I think remotely of picking him (and that includes whenever NASCAR races at Infineon, normally a Jeff Gordon track). In practically every race JG has fallen off by 10 or more laps with some sort of mechanical issue. Last night was a problem with two cut tires... and the resulting damage to the rear of his car. I'd have done better selecting Danica as an A lister. Hendrick has to be concerned with this development.
2) Matt Kenseth=karma.
3) Hamlin and Blech are on a roll... even Joey Freakin' Logano was racing well.
4) KuBusch and Newman may be looked at by NASCAR for an incident on the track (accident) and in the pits.
5) Don't pick Jeff Gordon, until he wins something. Shoot... at this point, I think they'd be happy with a top 10.
Time for a relaxing (?) week.
Cheers,
Lavabe

Thanks Iowa & Ymo.IowaDevil wrote:Hope Dad's health issue was just a hitch in his giddy-up and he's feeling better today!
My dad suffered two small strokes, one on Friday and one yesterday. His first one on Friday resulted in an inability to formulate words correctly, and some face droop. But honestly, it was kind of surreal to talk with him on the phone today; he was lucid. He seems to be having a good day. And he's very appreciative for another day of life.

Lavabe, you know I never post in the NASCAR 2012 thread. But this is important. It's about your dad.
I'm sending good thoughts and prayers his way that he makes a full recovery, and that he never ever worries you like that again! Here's to Papa Lavabe's good health!

Nationwide race right here in the cornfields of Iowa this week! Best we can do for NASCAR fame but we are off to watch the melee and eat some of that wonderful cholesterol filled track food!

I think there's a race in Charlotte this weekend. My real estate paralegal turns 35 today, and she's going to Charlotte to celebrate her birthday at the racetrack. Would that be a NASCAR event?

Yes it would... but it doesn't count for fantasy league and NASCAR Sprint Cup points. It's the NASCAR All-Star race.CathyCA wrote:I think there's a race in Charlotte this weekend. Perhaps someday, we'll be using this driver, a recent Duke grad, in our line-ups, http://ondemand.duke.edu/video/32596/cn ... ing-senior.

Not sure how much of tonight's race I am actually going to watch. Need to get some grocery shopping done as well as ironing clothes.

Re: NASCAR 2012
183 laps to go... Ambrose's suspension is kaput (going behind the wall for a lap, but he is now back out on the road)
Green flag pitting beginning
Jamie Mac had a missing lug nut
Ambrose is now back in the garage.
