Re: FANTA
I could really use a pineapple FANTA today. While grading final exams, I read where one of my students referred to a fossil as having a narrow cervix.
Second time in my career that has happened.
Geez.

Every fossil has a narrow cervix, unless it died while it was in active labor. Then the cervix would be dilated and the fossil would have a thinned and widened cervix.Lavabe wrote:I could really use a pineapple FANTA today. Well, of course it was narrow. Re: FANTA
I wonder if FANTA now comes out in FANTA ZERO.
On another note, what's the deal with the soft drinks that now have 10 calorie versions? Dr. Pepper has like 120 calories in regular form, and Diet Dr. Pepper has 0 calories. WHY do they need a 10 calorie form?

#1. I love Diet Dr. Pepper just the way it is. Tastes just like regular Dr. Pepper.YmoBeThere wrote:The 10 calorie math doesn't make sense to me.
#2. The new version is supposed to be more "manly". Who gives a flying fuck?

Re: FANTA
Maybe the "new" 10-calorie diet sodas are using something other than aspartame as the sweetening agent? If so, that a good thing. Aspartame is bad news IMHO. I avoid it like the plague (it gives me headaches). Of course, there are all sorts of concerns about the corn syrup that's used to sweeten regular sodas, too. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Re: FANTA
Dr Pepper 10 lists both high fructose corn syrup AND aspartame as ingredients.
I used to guzzle diet soft drinks. I used to have extreme issues with short term memory. When I stopped drinking diet drinks, most of my short term memory issues went away. Coincidence? I think not.

Aspartame has been associated with short-term memory loss for at least 25 years. I'm not sure why it is still on the market.

I might have to switch back to unsweetened tea or water as my non-alcoholic beverages of choice after reading this. But I'll probably forget that by lunchtime, coming up in about 30 minutes .ArkieDukie wrote:That's just wrong. I stopped having panic/anxiety attacks when I gave up caffeine. To me caffeine is a MUCH bigger problem than aspartame ever could be.

How much caffeine were you ingesting? I try to limit my intake of caffeine to 2 cups of coffee per day. May need to drop back.Lavabe wrote:I stopped having panic/anxiety attacks when I gave up caffeine. To me caffeine is a MUCH bigger problem than aspartame ever could be.
I have a pitcher of cucumber-lemon-ginger water in my fridge right now. Some people also add a bit of honey, but I didn't this time. It was my lunchtime beverage today. Yummy!

No more than two drinks (cups of coffee or cans of caffeine soda) a day. And I LOVE coffee.ArkieDukie wrote:How much caffeine were you ingesting? I now keep it down to 3 or 4 drinks/week. When I first quit, I did it cold turkey, and saw immediate results.
