I'm really hoping for no winners today in the Hole-Yuck matchup at Rupp Arena. L-)

I just finished the first draft of my seminar for my job interview on Tuesday. Will let it ferment before editing. Used one of NuBarbie's presentations for some background slides; otherwise the talk is derived from a couple of posters I put together last year. As of right now, including the title slides and acknowledgments, I have 39 slides for a 45 min talk. I may need to thin it out a bit.

Went back to lab to retrieve the materials that I thought I copied to my memory stick, but PHB was there. Since I want to fetch those materials when he's not around, I left. Since my seminar is finished, it's really not necessary. With that being said, I'd like to make sure I didn't do something stupid like copy them to a location that can be seen by others in the lab.

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't understand what you mean by (or why you are doing) a seminar for a job interview?

It's typical to present a research seminar when interviewing for the type of job that I'm interviewing for. I have a day filled with facility tours, one-on-one meetings with lab personnel (and the department chair), and a seminar.

I purchased two 3D movies today: The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. Will watch one of them as a reward for completing my seminar. Not sure which one yet.

Does anyone else get sucked in by the Harry Potter movies whenever they're on TV?

I have never been able to watch one all the way through. The early ones put me to sleep and I haven't watched the later ones.

I have never read a word of the Harry Potter series, nor have I seen one frame of the Harry Potter movies. However, my children have read the books multiple times, and they have seen the movies several times as well. If it weren't for J.K. Rowling, my Sam may have never learned to enjoy reading. I hope he doesn't know about any HP movie playing on TV tonight because he's writing an English paper. He doesn't need to be distracted.

I am uploading pictures of the Greenville Christmas Parade to my FB page. The automatic tag-your-friends thing thinks that one of the trumpet players in my son's band is DukePA.

I know. I couldn't let them go live until I finished my captions. They're up now.

This thread has just under 500 to go to get to 30,000. The original has just over 500 to go to get to half that.

It pays to have a broad base of knowledge. Many hours of studying while working on my engineering degree at Duke. Watch the news story embedded in the link, especially at the 1:10 mark. They highlight my "expertise" :D
