Roanoke and Salem VA...without air conditioning.

A necessary thing for the big ugly transport. Especially when you have 200 degrees of diesel engine resting against your right leg.
AC only helps keep the interior of the cab at a 'break even' temperature. Without it, 120 to 160 in that SOB. Pray it won't rain. Everything would fog up in there.

After a Schrader valve replacement and a recharge with refridgerant, your capt ended up going all the way to Cary and back home, today. Tomorrow...who knows? That's part of the mystery of my life. It's all a part of life's rich pageant.

Trip #1- Kernersville/Greensboro
Trip #2- Greensboro/Burlington/Durham

Damn shame I can't get to Durham tonight.

Yesterday was rough. After the morning rain, the Sun came out and turned the outdoor world into steam bath. Because of being off Monday, they has 80% of us run two local loads in order to make up for it. Then they offered half a day's pay rate in addition to regular trip pay to any that would pull an extra load before Tuesday. With 50 others of my kind currently laid off, they can take their offer and stick it up their ass. If they could get 5...or even 4 of us to comply, that's a week's work for somebody that's currently laid off. What jerks!

I finally got home about 8:30 last night.

Passing through Sanford, the rebuilt Lowe's Home Improvement store has now opened, following it's destruction by tornado back this past Spring. Cars and pedestrians were everywhere.
