I am also glad Japan won, if we couldn't. They could use something positive.

Cheney came out at halftime with an ice pack on her right foot.

I would have NEVER brought Tobin Heath in. She could give lessons to deer as to how to give a "deer in headlights" look.

I wouldn't have started Rapinoe because of the energy she brought when she came in (and brought her in around the 55th minute) but I understand why Sundhage did. Sauerbrun would have been a good sub to help stabilize things.

But, as my esteemed colleague in the land of the lost letters so aptly stated, hindsight is 20-20.

In EPL transfer news:
1) Still no word on Tevez (Manchester City) and Samir Nasri (Arsenal).
2) Liverpool now have acquired Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson, and Stuart Downing. They now need to shed some midfielders, and acquire some defense.
3) Luka Modric: looks like Tottenham won't let him go.
4) Chelsea have not made any earth-shattering deals.
5) Don't know how much longer Balotelli will play at Man City; he pulled a bonehead whine job last night in a game against an MLS team.

Boy did he ever. I saw this on the replay at halftime. His PK should have been disallowed, and he was goofing around on a live ball and tried to back kick it into the goal on a play where it was just him and the goalie, and he had a shouting match with his coach and then bounced a water bottle onto the pitch.

I'd be surprised if he stayed at Man City past their return to the UK.

:9f:
I didn't like him as a player at Spurs, but that's because he was good.
I didnt like him when he coached Germany, but that's because I don't like Germany in soccer.
I think it's a decent move now, considering the overhaul that is needed. I know he loves offense, but he needs time to figure out what talent he has/hasn't. He'll also need time to figure out the US system of development, especially the role of the college system. He'll be good, in part because he's a fresh face, with no allegiance to any group of players.

What's nagging me is that I wonder if this would have been a better move, say five years ago. I wonder why he wasn't selected then, and why NOW he is the choice.

I also wonder how Bradley (the player) will respond.

On a scale of 0(Irate) to 10 (Pleased), I feel I am at a 6.5-7.0 with this move.

The Klinsmann era has begun with perhaps the dullest game I've seen. It was a 1-1 "friendly" vs. Mexico. The game meant nothing; Dempsey and Chicharito didn't play. US tied it up at the 73 minute mark. Whoopee. i-) i-)

If they wanted more viewers, they'd replace Tim Howard in goal with Hope Solo.

English Premier League begins SATURDAY!!!
All games are on EXCEPT for Tottenham hosting Everton. Tottenham is where the riots began.

Top four prediction:
Liverpool (HOW many star midfielders can you play? Then again, I AM a Liverpool fan.)
ManU (Will be the #1 choice if they manage to get a blockbuster transfer in the season)
ManCity (Will Tevez play?)
Chelsea (El Nino & Drogba still can't play together)

NOTE ON CHELSEA: Torres (El Nino) suffered a head injury in Spain's 2-1 friendly loss to Italy. He probably won't start for Chelsea in the season opener.

OMG... Manchester United SLAUGHTERED Arsenal today, 8 - 2.
:-o :-o :-o :-o
Folks... Arsenal is usually a decent team, but they lost their two best players to other teams, and their two superstar defenders were out today.

Currently his name is still Ron Artest. He had unpaid fines (parking tickets, I think), so the judge rejected his name change to Metta World Peace.

I caught the replay on FoxSoccer channel - fun to watch! Rooney was awesome on his free kicks.

:D
Game 2 of the Klinsmann Era:
USA 0 -1 Costa Rica
WAY too many blown chances. Would be nice if Dempsey could make a squad, but Premier League duties probably prevent him from doing friendlies.

Lavabe: why was Premier League off this weekend? Because of the transfer window of last week?

I'm a newbie as to following soccer in any permutation beyond World Cup, so forgive my ignorance.

Euro 2012 Qualifiers, international duties, etc...

You'll see this several times in the 2011-2012 season. Sometimes you'll see FA cup duties as well. UEFA Champions League duties are usually in the middle of the week.

What time? :flags-usa: Is Belgium any good?

I watched some of the friendly (it was more of an unfriendly) between Chile and Spain last night. Chile was better than I expected. Ended 2-2.

Belgium 1 -0 USA

The USA can't score. :ymtongue: :Boo:
