2 years ago I bought an ice cream maker at the thrift store for 8 bucks. So I finally figured today would be a good day to try it out, and got some recipes from the manufacturers website. Geez, if I make a gallon, it will cost me more in ingredients than I paid for the ice cream maker! So screw that, I don't feel like paying $10 for a gallon of ice cream today. But also on the recipe page is a recipe for strawberry ice (like italian ice).
4 Quart Ice Cream Maker
2 quarts fresh or frozen
strawberries, thawed
1 cup sugar
2 cups water
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Puree strawberries and combine with sugar. Let stand 2 hours. Add water and lemon
juice. Cover; refrigerate 30 minutes. Freeze as directed.

Well I already have a ton of strawberries in my freezer from a day spent picking earlier this year, and I can afford 2 cups water, so that's what I'm making today! :happy-bouncyblue:

DUDE... the great thing about the ice cream maker is that YOU have control over different flavors that you can't find in the store. I wonder if a bacon ice cream is in the offing. :-?

Don't know about the ice, but I have seen a number of recipes with bacon and MAPLE ice cream.

But if you think of it, carbonara sauces involve bacon/ham with cream sauces... why NOT bacon ice cream?

JUST SAYIN'. :-B

I love Maple Ice Cream or Maple Nut Ice Cream. Always, love this Homemade Ice Cream stand in North Myrtle Beach, SC...... Painter's Homemade Ice Cream on Highway 17 in N Myrtle Beach.

The Maple Nut and Banana Nut Homemade Ice Cream were the best!!! We would drive there for the ice cream at night. My entire family loved the Homemade ice cream. Great memories I will cherish.
