I'm more in the "Sometimes I do; sometimes I don't" line of thinking (hence I'm not sure).

I absolutely believe in God and wish many times my flesh weren't so weak. Trying to correct this. I selected "non-church goer" but wouldn't mind getting involved in church in the "body of people" and supporting, encouraging, studying sense. Went to a friend's church in N.C. weeks back and had such a good experience I really didn't want to leave.

What do you mean by "I believe in God in a religious context"? Is there any other kind of context in which one would believe in God?

I merely intended that as the alternative to "I believe in God, but I'm not religious" (a phrase that irks me).

*on second thought I think you have to be a believer to be a heretic...

I put I believe in a religious context, though I haven't gone to church regularly lately. Am in between churches, but haven't gotten around to looking at the church nearby to see if I want to join it. Am having serious spirituality issues.

So, what if you believe in a higher power, call it "God" if you will, but you don't think that either you or anyone else can really know the specifics?

I would think "agnostic," which I saw translated on a bumper sticker "Atheist: I don't know, and you don't know either." But, I think there is a "higher power," just don't subscribe to any organized religion???

I too believe there is a God try to remember that I am not him or her in any decisions, thoughts, or actions that I take and i do go to church in person and online and on the radio (daily) to increase my connection with God. I am very respectful of other's beliefs or non-beliefs as well! Although I'm far from perfect as EJ highlighted (Amen for that reminder!), I work on being a Godly and spiritual example to everyone I encounter or interact with on a daily basis or that could be watching me to see if my actions meet my words and am a daily work in progress towards that unselfish, non-selfcentered, non-evil and loving perfection. I think spirituality exists in all religous denominations, but the exact approach and formality may be a little different within each and people get lost sometimes in the appearance or formality so they can be accepted rather than the common belief in a God or Higherpower or whatever you want to call it..... I think it is safe to say that most folks have some concept or thought about a God or at least something that is bigger and better, and that is okay and we are all at different levels anyways and that is okay also....

Curiously, what denomination.... I have found different experiences as well at a variety of denominations and they are all good and some just like you described, tremondous and you absolutely do not want to leave because you got what you were ready to receive there and are floating on cloud 9. Specifically I have found that in Methodist and Baptist denominations the focus or contributions of rejoicing through music and singing is always inspirational and heart touching as well as the delivery of the message which is the food I hunger daily that gets one thinking about several things definitely as it applies to my everyday past, present and future walk and interaction with others.

I have a problem with the whole "atheist" thing. I mean, aren't all atheists really agnostic too? I mean, Windsor, I get it. But if God actually appeared to you and you had a conversation and he showed you miracles, and he gave you some kind of proof (DNA sample you found a way to test and it came back "God"), you STILL wouldn't believe? That takes some serious determination. ;)

No, I am not. Anymore than a devote <fill in the blank> is.
(Given that is you want to make that arguement then it has to go both ways - proof that god does or does not exist)

I do not believe in any higher power.
It is inconceivable to me that such a power exists
I can not understand how rational human beings can believe - it all seems to mje to be so silly and absurd

I'm not trying to offend or provoke, assume the previous statements are uttered in a calm clear voice in
the same tone as you might say "cooked carrots are ok, but I like raw better"
