Do you have inlaws or outlaws?
Something in one of the other threads prompted me to post this poll. Actually, it may have been a Facebook conversation with someone not on the boards

Re: Do you have inlaws or outlaws?
I voted for "outlaws" since I'm divorced.
Even when I was married, we never saw them. I think the last time we saw them was in 2003. My kids tell me that the Outlaws are going to visit ExLax this summer. They'll be keeping my kid for a week. My kid is almost 12 years old, and over the course of his life, he's spent less than a month total with that set of grandparents.
Frankly, I thought that the best way to deal with in-laws was to put a continent between us. That's also the best way to deal with an ex-husband.

I hear ya CathyCA. But today is my wedding anniversary, and my in-laws couldn't possibly care less. And I'll top your one month of time w/the grandparents; my kids have probably spent less than a week total time w/their dad's parents. The gparents just do not care about my kids. No real evil intent, just flat affect and uninterested. I remember when my son was born, all 10 1/2 pounds of him and when we begged husband's mother to come out and give us a hand (after my own mother left) she replied that she would rather wait for us to come to her during our move back to the east coast. It's my fault for being a Yankee, I guess. They are deep Southerners.
I truly hate them for not recognizing how wonderful these two grandchildren are. They have several others that live nearby and they prefer the idiots who share their accent, I guess.

My in-laws are fine in limited doses. However, they've been labeled "outlaws" on my phone for almost a decade now.

My inlaws and I disagree about.... well almost everything. Except that we love their daughter and granddaughter. So we just do a pretty good job ignoring all those subjects that don't revolve around the girls. When my mother in law says "I can't ever vote for Obama, his name just sounds too foreign" I've just got to zip it to keep the peace. And when I ask her if she likes my beard she just nods politely and says "mmm hmm."
