Herschel is a problematic candidate for many reasons. But he is a UGA Dawg icon, and the GOP thinks that he he can peel some of the African-American vote from Warnock. Republicans are not looking for style points, they just want to win.
Way too early to get a read. Warlock has brought home a lot of bacon. Warnock would clean Herschel’s clock in any debate if Walker really goes through with one (I am doubtful). But it’s a tough year to be running as a Democrat. Between that race, and the gubernatorial race between Kemp and Abrams, the amount of money that will be poured into this state over the next five months staggers the mind. And the looming threat that Trump tries to torpedo Kemp, which could dampen Rep turnout, has a long way to play out.
It would be interesting if it wasn’t so personally serious for our state.

Freudian or Garcian?
PS...sadly I agree that Walker won't be debating Warnock...but still...PLEASE let that happen!

To say that she is dumb as a box of rocks is insulting to the rocks. If Georgians can elect someone this ill equipped to serve, it makes me fear that they will send Herschel Walker to the Senate.dudog wrote: ↑May 30th, 2022, 12:20 amMTG does it again. And yeah, Herschel can certainly win. The Dems really need something positive between now and November to avoid defeat.

Paul Ryan addressed the rise of the entertainer politician recently. And sadly, he's right. These folks are far more interested in putting on a show for social media and opinionated news programs than they are in governing. And as he points out, it actually does affect both parties...see the progressive wing of the Democrats for all the proof you need.ArkieDukie wrote: ↑May 30th, 2022, 7:17 am

https://www.businessinsider.com/paul-ry ... nds-2022-5Former House Speaker Paul Ryan said "entertainers" have become successful at gaining traction in Congress, a departure from the "meritocracy" that he felt was in place for much of his tenure in office.
Ryan made the remarks during a conversation on CNBC's "Squawk Box" last Thursday, adding that the drive to legislate is no longer the goal of some of the most high-profile members.

If the Republicans take over Congress this fall it is going to be non-stop. I think they are already getting the cases ready. Because their sole purpose in life is to stick it to the libs, not to make America great. And the whataboutisms will be completely out of control.dudog wrote: ↑May 31st, 2022, 1:15 pmAnother bullshit Republican smear job down the tubes. How much has this 3-year snipe hunt cost us?

Regarding your post about Herschel (I don't know how to respond to two posts at once here), I wonder if someone has told him that he has a better chance of winning the general election in Georgia without Trump than with him so is easing his way out of that relationship. Trump seems to have a pretty lousy track record lately in Georgia. So perhaps Herschel is not as dumb as we think he is.

Humorous opinion piece out today. Highlight quote.
Herschel Walker Doesn’t Know Anything
https://www.yahoo.com/news/opinion-hers ... 04725.html
My favorite, though, is the headline.I’m not sure if Herschel Walker can form a single coherent sentence about any policy, but some of us are more generous than others when it comes to accessing the skillsets and capabilities of the Georgia Republican senatorial candidate.
Speaking to Politico, Brian Robinson, a Republican consultant in Georgia, said of Walker: “He doesn’t speak in beautiful syntax, by any means, but, you know, I think his voters will say what they said about Trump quite often, ‘Well, I know what he was trying to say.’”

Love the article, scared by the prospect of Herschel being elected, and I am praying it doesn't happen. It basically amounts to voting for Trump as the Senator from Georgia.CameronBornAndBred wrote: ↑June 3rd, 2022, 1:18 pmHumorous opinion piece out today. Highlight quote.

That being said, unless I am reading it wrong and the joke is on me, it is somewhat ironic that the author is making fun of Herschel's intellect yet misuses "accessing" instead of "assessing" in the first sentence...
Re: The Political Junkie Thread
"how ironical”
Re: The Political Junkie Thread
Herschel would be a terrible senator.
And yet, odds are he will win.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread
First MTG, now Hershel. Georgia, the state that keeps on giving.
As a Floridian, I know you know I shouldn't talk. We've given the House Matt Gaetz and the Senate Rick Scott and (Little) Marco Rubio. And need I mention our governor?
Re: The Political Junkie Thread

Well y'all could have Louie Gohmert, who thinks it's criminal that Republicans aren't allowed to lie to authority figures.
