I knew I could count on you to come up with an example!EarlJam wrote:You mean like Weird Al's "Eat It," for Bad "Mood Music?"ArkieDukie wrote:There's another way to read the title of the thread, you know. Paging Shamm and/or EarlJam to the Bad Mood music thread...

Hella Good, No Doubt
Land of Canaan, Indigo Girls

"Don't Look Back" is a GREAT bad mood song. IEarlJam wrote:Bostondevil's name reminded me of a few: Anything from Boston's first three albums, a few in particular:

3. Party

P.S. Nothing by the Carpenters
ExLax uses "The Bitch is Back" for my ringtone. I kind of like it. Except that I'm not his bitch.ArkieDukie wrote:"High School Never Ends" by Bowling for Soup always makes me laugh. At my former job this particular song used to pop up on my play list at highly appropriate times. "The B!tch is Back" by Elton John is another goodie that used to come up on random shuffle mode at very opportune moments. Believe me, it's very difficult to NOT laugh when you're working away in the lab, your supervisor walks in, and either of the two previously mentioned songs starts playing on your iPod. Maybe it's only funny if you've experienced something like my former job.
How do the boys feel about that? Even if you are ok with it, I don't think he should have it as a ring tone that the boys know. Just my opinion. However, is there a song "The Bastard is Back" so you can reciprocate?CathyCA wrote:ExLax uses "The Bitch is Back" for my ringtone. I kind of like it. Oh, the boys know. And we've had discussions about whether that is a respectful way to treat their mother. They're embarrassed by it. I don't demand that he change it because the ringtone is tangible evidence of who the real bitch is in this (former) relationship.DukieInKansas wrote:How do the boys feel about that? I'm sure he thinks he is being clever - however, this attitude about the mother of his children will come back to bite him in the butt. Kids are pretty smart about these things. They know who the real adult is.CathyCA wrote:Oh, the boys know. And we've had discussions about whether that is a respectful way to treat their mother. They're embarrassed by it. They've also questioned his ringtone for them: "Cat's In The Cradle."
My ringtone for my boys is "Sweet Child Of Mine."
That sounds about like mine.Bostondevil wrote:What's a ring tone? ;) I'm kinda kidding. I do have a cell phone. It rings, the same for everybody. I've sent two or three text messages too!
I haven't set any individual ringtones - not even sure I can on this phone. However, everyone that calls me prompts the playing of "Devil with the Blue Dress On" from the Duke Pep Band CD.OZZIE4DUKE wrote:That sounds about like mine.Bostondevil wrote:What's a ring tone? ;) I'm kinda kidding. My wife's ringtone for when our daughter calls her is the Hallelujah Chorus
Sounds like your sons are pretty smart and that you have a very healthy attitude.CathyCA wrote:Oh, the boys know. It saddened me deeply when Brad Delp passed. That band was full of a bunch of brainiacs. Didn't Tom Schultz graduate from an Ivy League school? They also gave constantly to many charities supporting proper treatment of animals and the environment.CathyCA wrote:"Don't Look Back" is a GREAT bad mood song. IEarlJam wrote:Boston. I saw them in concert before Brad Delp's death. They were very good in a live setting.

I was more thinking, help get the aggression out of my system - just something to match, not necessarily cure, the bad mood. I'm always up for expanding my musical repertoire (and have an all-you-can-eat music subscription service to try things out), so fire away!colchar wrote:DevilAlumna wrote:At home, with my music collection in front of me, I come up with these, for starters:

I was going to suggest some songs but, seeing this list, I am not sure how much you would like anything I suggest. I'll try to help but, before I do, I need to know what you're looking for - songs to cheer you up or songs to help you get the aggression and shit out of your system? If you're looking for the latter, I'm your man.
Billy Joel does that too - he has a back up singer that hits the high notes on songs like "Innocent Man."CathyCA wrote:Also, the lead singer, Brad Delp, couldn't hit all of his high notes, so they'd hired a singer to sing along with him when he had to sing some of the higher notes. Rather than transposing all of the music down into a new key, they just hired someone who could sing the notes.
Where can I purchase a copy of this? I think I need to add it to my collection, it gets such rave reviews.TillyGalore wrote:The Duke Pep Band CD always cheers me up.
Ooh, "Break on Through" definitely fits!OZZIE4DUKE wrote:Good driving rock, as in music that's fun to drive to and get your blood pumping? I suggest J Geils Band "First I Look At The Purse". Or something from The Doors, like "Break On Through", "I Love Her Madly or "Hello, I Love You"!DevilAlumna wrote:Okay, so I really wanted to listen to some pounding, driving rock must tonight on the drive home - something to help me musically work out the aggressions of the day. But, I couldn't bring any songs to mind at the moment.
So, help me - what songs would be on your, "I just had a shitty day" playlist?
Tilly's suggestion is good also! I always have that in my car.
All new to me, I'll check them out.Miles wrote:I'd go with my "Garage" playlist on playlist.com.
Not everyone's cup of tea, but there is a healthy mix of old and new garage rock.
Hope you're day is better!
