His schtick is far funnier than Letterman's. He's actually a comedian.

True. Letterman is not funny at all. In fact, I find him to be rather obnoxious and completely full of himself.

Despite thinking that Leno is funnier though, I still don't care about him either way.

I think that Leno is goofy.

I prefer Letterman. He's snarkier than most comedians.

I'm with Cathy. I think Leno is a total putz and have been a long-time Letterman watcher.
Pretty much everyone has a rather strong opinion on this. I've been going back and forth with my cousin about it for a good decade.

Letterman, Leno or CT? Hmm... I know what I'd rather be watching late at night. Other than Duke FB/BB, of course. :D ;)

I guess Letterman wins by a photo finish as we attended his show several years ago.

On NPR the other day, they were dicussing Leno and Letterman. The guy they were interviewing (don't know who) was saying that long ago, when you asked either who their favorite comedian was they would say the other, and were honest about it. Letterman said Leno was the funnier joke writer, Leno said Letterman was the better showman.
Anyways, I like Leno better.

I like Leno when he's talking about cars. I've seen him on a few car shows and he seems really approachable, a genuinely nice guy. I wouldn't mind having a few drinks with him.

For me personally, he has the comedic value of a rock. I like Letterman amongst the two, but it's all about Conan. Okay maybe it's all about Triumph.

When Bush was (still) in office, Letterman had his famous speeches routine where he'd show GWB fumbling a line, which was funny and true. But now, he's showing his true colors and rips Bush and Chenney every chance he gets. He won't let them go. It's not funny anymore. And that's when I turn him off.

I don't disagree on GWB. I think all of the comedians are struggling with Obama right now, during the first year. I have seen NO comedian latch on to much. YET. Meanwhile, there's 8 years of GWB material. I do believe that it should die down in this next year.

FWIW, how long did it take for him to ease off on the Clinton jokes? It pretty much took a year or two, but you still get the occasional barb thrown in. And as for Hilary jokes, she's fair game now as our Sec. of State... she's also been fair game as the US Senator from New York.

As for Cheney versus GWB, he's more fair game, as he has been VERY vocal.

Do you recall Letterman's running bits with Sirajul and Moojibur? or Larry "Bud" Melman? or with Chris Elliot? They all ran a little too long. He does tend to do that.

Leno seems like a very decent guy. I haven't watched him in ages, maybe this new show will reintroduce him to all his former fans who fall asleep before 11:30pm.

And yes, welcome home EJ!

Leno seems pretty vanilla to me. I like his "Jaywalking" - he's better at interacting with regular schmoes than Letterman. Put me in the Letterman camp when choosing between the two. Conan is mildly amusing but not really in the running.

But if I'm up late and have no interest in ESPN at 11PM, my starting rotation is Jon Stewart -> Colbert -> Craig Ferguson. I think that Scots goofball is very funny.

I really liked Furguson's Late Late Show until I went to his show back in February. Now I just like it. Doesn't seem quite as funny anymore.
