Calling Colchar and others familiar with all things British

When I went to see my brother, I saw a sporty coupe with a hood and trunk badge that looked like a big shield with an overlapped TT (where the second T is a little below and to the right of the first T, but it's "crossbar" crosses the "upright" of the first T about halfway down) on it. The badge had a lot of red and blue. This was the MAKE, not the MODEL, of the car, so it was NOT an Audi TT. I seem to recall hearing somewhere that it was British. So, Colchar and others that know such things, is anybody familiar with this type of car? What make is it? All I can find when I google it is stuff about the Audi TT.

I know the emblem you are talking about but cannot for the life of me remember which manufacturer it is. I was thinking it might be a Talbot but that can't be right.

I did want to wait for the owner to smack him for having an automatic though. I mean really - who buys a '68 Mustang in automatic?

That's the closest I've seen to the symbol, except it doesn't have the two overlapping Ts.

Was this a new car, or an antique of sorts? Touring car, or two-seater? What color? What kind of lines?
We can figure this out.

I wonder if this was one of those models that had/has its own badge (like the Corvette, Camaro, Firebird, Mustang, etc.).
What color was the car (odd question, I know, but it will help)?
Did the back seat look functional, or was it 2+2?
Could you tell where the engine was mounted?
What did the driver look like?

Not sure about that either. Tatas' claim to fame around the world is that they're impossibly cheap (and death traps). If you're dropping the cash to import a not-for-sale-in-the-States car, it ain't a Tata:

That looks like a shitty version of the first-generation Hyundai Tiburon (that's not a compliment).
In case it hasn't become apparent, I'm no fan of Tatas, and hope they never make it Stateside.

The car was a medium blue. Kind of a deep royal blue. The odd thing was that the only other time I'd seen a similar car was when I was at Duke a decade ago, and I saw it driving on I-85 north of Durham. This weekend, I saw it a little south of Raleigh on I-95. I wonder if it could possible be the same car? It looked very similar to my memory, even the same color.

I didn't really see the back seats, but from the size and shape of the rear side windows, I'd GUESS they were functional. From the shape of the car, I would guess that the engine was in the front. No clue what the driver looked like. I saw the car for a second in my rear view mirror, then it past me and was in front of me. He was driving it like it was a race car though, so I'd guess he was younger. The passenger was a younger white male, looked in his late teens, early twenties. It had a very loud muffler sound with a BIG exhaust pipe, like one of those suped up civics the kids race these days. It might be what you said about the badge, but it definitely didn't look like any Camaro, Vette, Firebird, or Mustang I've ever seen.
