Duke Vs. Baylor

Post by CameronBornAndBred » September 11th, 2017, 8:26 am

On paper, this should be a solid win, especially being played in Durham. Baylor lost their first game against an FCS team, and again last week vs UTSA. Their loss to Liberty was 48-45...so they have some offense, but being that those 45 points were against LIBERTY, that doesn't say much. (Jerry Falwell cancelled Liberty's classes the next day to celebrate that win, haha.)
Like I said...on paper, this should be a solid win. After such a big victory though, emotions and expectations can be hard to control. I have confidence that Coach Cutcliffe will have both tampered, and that we'll be focused.

NW was solidly in the "receiving other votes" group in both polls going into Saturday's came, and I loved the way our defense looked against a respected team. Our offense was nice, too, but like the Baylor vs LIB game proves, if you can't stop the other team from scoring, you might lose, no matter how many points you put up.

I'm optimistic that we walk into the unc game with a 3-0 record. My prediction for this week is Duke - 37, Baylor - 13.

Vegas has Duke favored by 14 points. With the way our defense manhandled Northwestern, I expect we will easily cover.

Prediction: Duke 41, Baylor 17

Of course I will be happy if we win by 1 point...a win is a win.

Ben Swain has an article on wral.com about this being a classic trap game, and it is. I am sure Cut will have the team ready and I think we'll be just fine, but it's a thought.
Favorite line from the whole write-up is the first one.
Just a few short years ago, “accountable for keeping the Duke record book up to date” was the easiest job description bullet point in college athletics. Thanks to David Cutcliffe, that person now goes through as much white-out as a UNC lawyer.

Duke Uniform Combo is:

White Helmet/Blue Jersey/White Pants

I have not seen the full injury report; however...

WR Scott Bracey is Probable
LB Brandon Hill is Probable

DT Quavan Ferguson is Out.

I'm hearing that is all there is on the report.

Baylor lost to 3rd place Oklahoma 49-41. That says more for our victory...maybe the Bears ain't as bad as advertised.
