New Bern Art Walk and BOA Juried Art Show - Friday May 11

Post by CameronBornAndBred » May 8th, 2012, 7:03 am

Woooohoo!!! I got a piece in! 293 works were submitted and only 60 were selected, no artist had more than one piece chosen. If anyone is close enough to New Bern, there will be an Art Walk involving all of the New Bern galleries, as well as the opening night of the juried show. For more about the one that I'm in, check here. http://www.cravenarts.org/boa-juried-art-show.html

The painting that was chosen was "Night in Ghent".

Double woohoo!!! I stopped in the gallery on the way home to see everything that got submitted since they are putting it all on sale for today only, including those that didn't get accepted. So I learned that not only did my painting get accepted, but it also won an award (I don't know what until Friday night) and I learned that it was SOLD!!!! :happy-bouncyblue: :happy-bouncyblue: :happy-bouncyblue: They had a pre-sale viewing party for bigwig art collectors Saturday night and my painting was bought then by a husband and wife. :happy-bouncyblue:

This is the funnest post. So much sad news around. This is really good to hear. I remember the first time somebody who didn't know me bought a painting. Somehow knowing it stood on its own merit with a stranger made a difference. I walked on air for a while.

It's more than the money, isn't it. It's a true compliment. I know you hear compliments from all of us all the time, but I'm sure you discount them a little because you know we love ya. This was somebody who didn't, but forked over the cash anyway.

Kudos, CB&B!
Love, Ima

Yup, I love that feeling! With the economy as it is, this is the longest stretch I've gone without selling a painting off a gallery wall, so to have one sell basically 5 hours after I dropped it off was pretty stunning. When she told me it won an award as well I was speechless. The work that was submitted is truly amazing, and I'm glad I went yesterday, since it was the only day to see everything. There were several pieces that could have been included that weren't, and amongst those there were a few that also sold, so the competition was pretty stiff. It makes for a better show, though.
