Thanks, Ima! I have a couple of good leads at the moment; hopefully one of them will pan out.Ima Facultiwyfe wrote:I don't think my blood pressure is going down until your behinds are both firmly settled into new office chairs and I know you are happy ! Work tomorrow could be interesting. I think the boss may have figured out there's some fairly important lab tasks that no one but me can do at the moment.

I'm sure you'll put your best Windsor forward to delay doing them for as long as possible, like hopefully until you're out the door and on your way to your new career!ArkieDukie wrote:Thanks, Ima! One of these tasks involves doing data analysis for someone with a looming grant deadline. That I will not delay; it's at the top of my list of things to do. The boss forgot to have the techs run the sample before I left for my vacation, and no one else can do the data analysis. It will be interesting to see the spin that PI in question received, if I ever find out. It's not my fault that the sample wasn't analyzed before I left - I can't exactly perform data analysis when the data haven't been acquired. However, I'd bet money that the PI in question wasn't given that particular bit of information. Given my current status as Scapegoat du Jour, I suspect that the timing and length of my vacation was slammed by my boss. If the PI in question says anything to me, I might be tempted to oh-so-innocently tell him what really happened.OZZIE4DUKE wrote:I'm sure you'll put your best Windsor forward to delay doing them for as long as possible, like hopefully until you're out the door and on your way to your new career!ArkieDukie wrote:Work tomorrow could be interesting. The other looming item is something for Pushy PI. That one is not exactly at the top of my list.

Thanks for the vibes, everyone. I know I will feel them all tomorrow as I walk into uncharted territory. I spent another 5 hours helping to pack the office and clean up the two computers the new firm purchased. I'm excited/scared/nervous/etc. about the new opportunity in front of me. i know how blessed I am to have had a boss that looked for someone to buy her practice and take as many of her staff as possible. I always told her even though people say the American dream is to have your own company, I say it is to have a really good boss and I was very fortunate to have one.
AD - I know you will take the high road with the PI that needs the data for a grant but it is ok to let hin know when you were told of the need for the analysis. Big Jerk Boss can try to paint you as the scapegoat but you can sublty point out that you didn't know about the need before you left on vacation. Doesn't BJB give you assignments via email these days? When you give him the data analysis, perhaps you can put a cover with it saying "here is the data analysis as requested in the attached email" or something to that effect. Of course, only if Windsor approves. If you give him a quick turn around from when you got the request, he can't be to upset with you.

AD - Assuming you get the Outlook task to do the analysis fire back an e-mail (include anyone relevant) to verify that the samples were run and add something like 'I was wondering about this before I left, but the samples had not been run yet'. (you assholes, implied)
