The Vacationitis Thread
Miles has vactionitis, he said so in the LTE. DukeUsul is curing his in Aruba now. What are y'all plans for the summer?
I'm Ieaving for Vegas in less than 2 weeks now (solo trip), and then when I return I get to sit on my ass at home for 4 days..I'm stoked. I made sure I didn't go back to work right after I got back, I did that last year after returning from California and it sucked.
Later this summer I'm hoping to go to Busch Gardens with the family, maybe combine it with a camping trip.

Re: The Vactionitis Thread
It's not a vacation, but I'm headed out to California in 10 days for Sam's senior celebration. The trip might even include a graduation. I'll see ExLax and BimbHo. I'll be taking 2 day trips in to San Francisco, and I'm going to cross off item #24 on my Bucket List by going to Yosemite. I'll sing in the choir at my old church and I'll have coffee and dinner with friends. I'll be staying at the hotel around the corner from eBay where I lived for 3 months after I sold my house. The staff there has already emailed me to ask me what they can do to make my visit more enjoyable. Finally, I'll kiss my babies good-bye, and I'll head back to North Carolina.
In July, I'll spend a week at the beach with my mom, my brothers, their wives and my nieces and nephews.
In August, I'll have a long weekend in New York with my girlfriends, courtesy of Talbots.

BimbHo? Niiice.
We're going to visit the in-laws in Tacoma for a week in June. I would like to think there will be a "real" vacation this year as well, but it isn't looking good. I love the in-laws, but they ARE in-laws and they don't like me all that much.
On the positive, it's beautiful and the people are so nice. We've been to Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens, which are both beautiful, in different ways. I'm hoping for something fun while we're there.

Heading to a B&B in Banner Elk this weekend - it was our Christmas gift from OzzieDaughter and SIL! In late June we'll head down to Hilton Head for our annual week there, and possibly head to Ft. Lauderdale the following week for a few days - Great Grandma and Great Grandpa haven't seen the new kid yet! But that's a maybe.

Re: The Vacationitis Thread
Funny, after seeing MILES post, I was thinking of starting the same thread....
For me.... this weekend, nothing overly exciting... (turned down a number of invites to memorial party days, just not in the mood), but a buddy is coming to town so I might see him, June - brew feast!, July - some ME time down in Hatteras! August - have no idea? I might hit the river house in between these times and catch a mess of fish! My Cuz down in Wilmington area needs me to come visit him, maybe in the plan... Sept (Jimmy Buffet- have extra ticket?)... still keeping my options open... work seems to be safest place (busy enough now)! ;)

Re: The Vacationitis Thread
Neither of these is a vacation per se, but weekend after this coming one, we're heading down to Durham for my niece's Bat Mitzvah, then the following weekend, to Virginia for my sober anniversary celebration.
In August, we're going to Cape Hatteras for a week for my mom's 80th birthday with all my siblings. My husband's employer is already on notice that there will be NO work-related crises requiring his presence, else I will burn the building down.
Nothing much else planned as yet, but husband's recent promotion (yaaaayyyy!) will mean actual money left over after bills are paid, so we can do more fun stuff.

Camping! (see Miles' thread), and a trip to NoVA to help my parents pack and move. Already took a week to Cancun/Playa del Carmen earlier this spring, so rest of my remaining vacation will be in dribs & drabs over long weekends.
And congrats, Gadzooks, on your personal anniversary. My brother just hit 10 years, couldn't be more proud of him.

K68 and I are heading to the beach for a weekend the end of June. The end of July I'm going to Vermont with my family for a few days, and in August I'll be heading to Vegas for a weekend with Sue71 and her red leather jacket.
Not much else planned.
Gadzooks, congrats on your anniversary. Any chance we can get together to celebrate while you're in Durham?
DA, great to have you back. I've missed you!

If you let (aka cl15876) know when your parents will be packing and moving, I'm sure he'd be happy to help . Plus, meet another member of the CTN. Bjornolf might be willing to tote a few cartons also .DevilAlumna wrote:Camping! (see Miles' thread), and a trip to NoVA to help my parents pack and move. Re: The Vacationitis Thread
Kelly and I are volunteering with Coalition to Unchain Dogs on Monday. It's a great non-profit, volunteer group that locates dogs that are chained and then builds small runs for the dogs. I'll see if I can post pictures from this weekend.
In June we're headed to Pawley's Island for short stay with her family. It won't be long, but this will be our big vacation of the summer as we're trying to budget for a fall trip back to Cumberland Island so I can get a rubbing of Lighthorse Harry Lee's headstone, and then for a big New Year's celebration in Atlanta.

We're going to have tons of stuff going on with the Bat Mitzvah, plus my cousin who lives in Durham also wants to get together, so I don't think we're going to have much free time, unfortunately. If we do happen to find ourselves at loose ends, I'll let ya know.TillyGalore wrote:Gadzooks, congrats on your anniversary. Any chance we can get together to celebrate while you're in Durham?

Re: The Vacationitis Thread
We are having dinner on Monday night with Kelly's brother (Michael) and wife to start planning the menu for vacation. Michael is an awesome chef and I'm looking forward to cooking with him. I'll be making a huge batch of chicken salad to keep in the fridge. I'm also planning on oyster po boys and a bloody mary bar. We wanted to do that Saturday for the World Cup match but Kelly's father won't be there yet so maybe that'll be Sunday brunch. I am looking forward to nice, long relaxing weekend of eating, drinking, and being merry.

Re: The Vacationitis Thread
No official vacation plans yet, other than a trip to The Rock for 4th of July weekend with my sister. Hopefully I'll be able to stick around for a few extra days so I can visit with my friends. I'll also be taking a short weekend trip to The Rock in a couple of weeks for my niece's stage debut as a Munchkin in the Wizard of Oz (I'm so proud of her!). I'll also be coming to Durham in September for the Duke-Alabama football game and might try to plan some sort of vacation around that.
