How Long Can You Hold Your Breath?

Post by EarlJam » May 20th, 2010, 6:52 pm

I just had the hiccups and turned it into a contest. I took a huge breath and relaxed my body. I held my breath completely for two minutes and forty-five seconds.

Discuss.

:ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: That's not too bad, I love to swim and all the years of doing it and staying in shape (besides my bad habits) have withstood the sands of time. I just love the serenity of being under the water, but I am trying to recall how long I've held my breath. As an IT/security guy, sometimes you have to visit places and know things that aren't typical of a wearing a suit... so while during my stint at the Pentagon, I had to get asbestos licensed and part of that drill is inhaling and exhaling to measure your lung elasticity. The high score is 5 which is pretty damn elastic and I scored that everytime! I will have to measure this, but I know mine used to be pretty good! I've got the action now and will report back! ;-)

1 second. Maybe longer..but I know with certainty I can hold my breath for at least one second.
