Corliss Williamson lands head coaching job

Post by ArkieDukie » March 12th, 2010, 7:42 pm

Corliss Williamson is going to be the new men's basketball coach at the University of Central Arkansas. Great job for a great guy. He's been head coach at Arkansas Baptist College for the past year after being an assistant 2 years before that. IIRC he was working for free; AR Baptist isn't exactly rolling in the dough.

That's pretty cool. Good luck to him.

Corliss is really one of the good guys; truly a tremendous person. I read a story somewhat recently about his experience at AR Baptist. He did everything, right down to driving the team bus. Not many former NBA players of his caliber would take the route he's taken to get into coaching. I expect great things from him.

Paying his dues. At least he drove the bus instead of throwing his team under it.

He was MVP of the Tournament in 1994 when Duke lost to Arkansas.

Hmm. . . how can I be happy for someone who denied my Blue Devils a national championship? (I still carry a grudge.)
