Food Network Thread

Post by Lavabe » December 31st, 2009, 4:57 am

Alright, as a follower of the Food Network, I enjoy some of the food competition shows, particularly IRON CHEF AMERICA. However, I believe Food Network has gone crazy with the plethora of food competition shows. WAY too many of them.

I believe they may have created an event that may be over the top. Heavily advertized, they're having a competition that pairs Mario Batali and Emeril Lagasse vs. Bobby Flay and White House Executive Chef Comerford. It looks like there will be a special guest, the First Lady.

Is it just me, or are they getting ready to jump the shark?

What, the whole network is jumping the shark?

All I know is that my wife LOVES the Food Network Challenge shows, where the bakers have a certain amount of time to construct monstrous cakes following certain themes. It's pretty cool, I have to admit.

The whole genre of reality competition food shows... really.

They also have a new one coming on: the Worst Cooks in America.

My wife, the follower of Brian Boitano, tells me that his show is NOT dead yet. You don't suppose that Food Network will target an Olympic-related re-launch of What Would Brian Boitano Make?

Not sure if it jumped the shark, but do we need to have a "man" card check or what?

(I kid of course, though my favorite cooking show has always ben Yan can cook on PBS years ago.)

GREAT show!! Classy guy, who resurfaced on one episode of Iron Chef America.

One of the early Food Network chefs I liked was Curtis Aikens.

Grew up watching Yan Can Cook! I enjoyed the shows where he used "suegar" as an ingredient.

If the Food Network has jumped the shark, or is getting ready to, then I have to say Iron Chef America was them getting into the water and strapping on their skies. The show is atrocious in comparison to Iron Chef. With that said, I'm not sure it's jumped the shark yet. Hopefully the ratings will decline for some of the competition cooking shows and the good stuff will rise to the top.

I'm looking forward to the mega battle, just hope it doesn't become a full-blown show.
